Re: Why not a live aboard blimp?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/84/Hindenburg_burning.jpg/520px-Hindenburg_burning.jpg Not a valid comment - that was hydrogen - way too flammable. Today helium is used - no problems. Most people used helium back then too, but America made most of it and was not willing...

Re: How do you justify paying $200+ for an EDC blade?

Most of my EDC blades are cheap folders, but this is because I use them for all sorts of rough and abusive work. Also if they get dropped off the side of a boat / ship I am only out like $10-$20.

Re: Foreign Invasion WWYD

I think any foreign power would have a really hard time invading America. I am sure I would be dead long before they made landfall, but if not, fight them of course. America is very large. We are also #3 in terms of population. And while we might hate each other inside this nation, we LOVE America i...

Re: The 3rd Gun

If we are talking bugging out on foot, I can not see many situations where a second long arm is a better idea than more ammo for the primary long arm. As far as "three guns", most small .380's weigh about half a pound loaded, and I think maybe having a last ditch hold out gun or a small pistol that ...

Re: Training to Shoot Under Stress

Sometimes we do like jumping jacks or running in place first.

Simunitions training is also awesome if you can afford it and have a place near by that does it. When you start getting shot at with a real gun firing paint bullets that still hurt a lot it really changes how some people react.

Re: A way of quantifying some of the intangibles.

Did you know that there is hydroxyl acid in almost everything you eat these days? Lets talk about hydroxyl acid. It causes thousands of burns a year, and thousands of people die every year from over exposure to it. In its natural state it can cause very quick (sometimes within hours) oxidation and r...

Re: Ammunition stockpiling: questions re: quality and quant

For me I figure I have a lot of armed friends who don't have much ammo. So I put away a lot of cheap ball ammo for pistols and lots of cheaper shotgun, am and ar ammo. No more steal ammo for the AR though since I have had problems with it in several guns. I also have almost 1k critical duty 9mm and ...

Re: Pistol Carbine for BOB

"Fighting" .223/5.56 is much cheaper (.30-.50 cents a round) than "Fighting" 9mm (.50-$2 a round, or more). .223 is easier to be accurate with because its reasonably strait for 300 yards or so, within a few inches. 9mm starts dropping quickly and drops low fast Magazines for most 5.56 weapons run ab...

Re: M&P shield vs xds

I think the Kahr CW40 is a fine gun for CCW.... That said, the M&P and XD's are both excellent weapons and both would be outstanding options for a CCW piece, coming down to what you like more. Both will be relentlessly reliable, accurate, and both are affordable. The world of Glock's aftermarket par...

They are terribly expensive for what they are. There are other similar weapons that are a good bit cheaper, even ones without the whole buffer tube of an AR pistol.

Re: Camping hammock Diy has anyone done this

You can get a decent hammock thats pretty light for like $30-$50. Most off the expensive ones are very expensive because they have shaved a few ounces and use very strong but expensive materials. The cheaper ones work though, and last for years if you are a few times a year kinda guy. If you dont li...

Hey everyone! I just found out I can buy Glocks at the MCX for $415-$425 new (or $399 for the 42) with 3 magazines (except the little ones) and no tax. Go MCX. They also have glocks with threaded barrels and night sights for $499. I already have a Glock 19. Any advice on which Glock I should get fir...

The compass lid is neat, but would it work on a stainless bottle? I would think that might screw with the compass.

Still neat though. I have a Pathfinder bottle and might get one of these as well :D

Edit: That knife only class sounds neat.

They seem like a great choice for a fun rifle or a camping rifle, or as a defensive choice if you live in a state or country that restricts access to semi auto long arms.
