Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

I am a sucker for reading gun periodicals. So I picked up the Book of the AK47 tonight while at the grocery store. There is a pretty good article on the 9X39 round. Yes, the same round the VSS Vintorez uses: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/c/ce/Vss_vintorez_01.jpeg/300px-Vss_vin...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

If you shoot lefty like me, the lack of a Brunson bump/brass deflector on those retro rifles is no bueno. I went with Colt 723/Diemaco C7 style uppers for my retro middy and IDF Katsar clone builds....Still has that A1 carry handle flair, but with the added comfort of a brass deflector. http://i101...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

according to Clint Smith (of Thunder Ranch fame)...something like 80% of all people shot by handguns survive. Also, according to him "handguns put bullets into people...rifles put holes through people." Well probably because 80% are drivebys and barely hit the leg, let alone a vital organ. Kind of ...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

Took the Sig MCX/Hybrid in .300 Blackout to the range yesterday. I had bought two long flat bladed screw drivers so I could adjust the gas regulator. It seemed to run just fine with subs with the exception that it wouldn't lock the bolt back on the last round fired. Reaching in with the screwdriver ...

I noticed the forum has a new format. I guess I'll see here in a minute if the forum allows bigger pics now. Yesterday when trying out the MCX hybrid with different mags, I had this wicked double feed. Ho Lee Shikey's It looked like this: https://robarguns.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/AR-DOUBLE-FE...

220 grains.

That EOtech sure makes it easy to hit targets.

That was only the second time I have shot with one.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the stock...err...I mean the brace folds, so it makes for a real compact package. I carried it it in my DeWalt toolbag yesterday.

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

Picked up a Sig MCX hybrid in .300 Blackout today. Put an EOtech on it. Then ran 80 factory super sonics and 10 factory subsonics through it. Made it a point to retrieve my brass. I only sighted in out to 50 yards. Trajectory wise it seems like everything stays within a paper plate at 50, 25, and 15...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

It is my first black handgun. And my first handgun with a light rail. I promptly bought a TLR-2 for it. Now, I kinda have an eye out for holsters that will accomodate a light. Do you guys have any suggestions for holster makers? Depends on what you are looking for....IWB, OWB, retention, no retenti...

I asked on another forum about this. One of the replies I got back was to google search "tack trunk plans". yes, tack as in horse's saddles and bits and reigns. So the one poster who replied included this pic: http://www.horseloversstore.com/images/ClassicTacktrunkOpenB.jpg http://www.horseloverssto...

Re: Strength of plywood

Any plywood box that you could physically move will be strong enough. Said another way... your back will give out before your plywood box does. Okay, now with that said, my recomnendation would be to go with a steamer style trunk, plastic tote boxes, or rubbermaid chests. steamer trunks (yes, kinda ...

I'm thinking about a cz75. Someone talk me out of it. I have a CZ75 in matte stainless. I like it....enough.... I just haven't gotten around to ordering more mags for it. Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

If you reloaded AND lived in a state that allowed suppressors, you could make subsonic ammo. I worked with a guy over in Missouri once who had a CZ 527 chambered in 7.62X39. He brought some targets into work. At 100 yards, I'd say it was a 2 inch to 3 inch group kinda gun with steel cased ammo. Or,...

Don't know if this was mentioned,.. but Ruger's American Rifle now comes chambered for a certain Russian cartridge. Wal-Mart is pretty much the only store around here that DOESN'T have it cause some fudds buy it up and take it to gun shows trying to get rich. There used to be a website or an app that would tell you when your local walmart was getting .22LR ammo. I stocked up a few years ago when a local Gander M...

Re: Portable shooting bench recommendations

Have you ever worked with black gas pipe?

Or galvanized gas pipe?

Can you weld?

Then this bench plan might be for you:

http://www.larrywillis.com/shootingbench.html

or you could try gas pipe floor flanges instead and skip out of the welding part.

it's all relative. I suppose. If you were on the equator at exactly 12 noon and fired a gun due east or due west, in 4.3 seconds, where you are standing has traveled 6,303 feet. where you are standing....let's call it point A....is still the same distance from Point B wherever point B happens ...

Re: Firearms Chat 4: #pewpewlife

ASSuming the .50 cal bullet did not decelerate from its 2,700 fps, then the time of flight would have been a minimum of 4.3 seconds. at the equator, the earth is moving at 1,000 miles an hour. you guys can check my math....but that comes to 1,466 fps. I guess in theory...if on the equator shooting w...
