Re: Lets talk about hot sauce.

I usually keep about 20 hot sauces on hand at any given time. However, the 4 most frequently used ones at home are Valentina, Siracha, Louisiana, and Satan's Ghost. Satan's Ghost is almost exclusively used on eggs and hashbrowns.

At my office, I keep Siracha and Blair's after Death.

Re: Motorcycles

I do want to comment on the KLR 250 vs KLR 650 debate. Riding at top speed on any dual purpose bike isn't ideal, they are too tall, the knobby tires are too squirmy, and the suspension tends to be too wallowy. The 250 may have the same weight capacity as the 650 but if both are loaded down the 250 w...

Congratulations on your new bike! It sounds like the Ninja 650 is an ideal bike for what you need.

Re: Mid size or full size

If I were in your shoes, I would get a full size truck. You can always add a trailer to the full size truck and get more cargo room but you cannot add leg room and interior space to the midsize truck. As far as switchbacks and other areas that are narrow, you would be surprised at where you can get ...

Awesome truck! Please let me know how well the LED light bar lights up. I would love to do that to my truck. Smart move on the factory upfitter switches, I have considered getting them for my current truck as well.

Re: fuel efficient 4x4 bov? whats your BOV MPG?

Most of the large trucks like my ford f350 1 ton get pretty decent mileage. Mine gets 17mpg regardless of if I'm pulling my horse trailer (10,000lbs) or my 36ft hay trailer with a full load on it (15,000lbs) or if its just running along with no load. It is however a pain in the ass in small parking...

Re: Knockdown Power

I find this thread to be very amusing. Knockdown power is an inaccurate term at best. Literally knocking down a human due to energy transfer from a bullet is just ridiculous. As far as what caliber someone carries, in my opinion, it should be the largest, heaviest, fastest round you can shoot accura...

Re: Nissan with a 5.0 Cummins?

I wonder what the mpg will be like, if the 4x4 get's north 20 it may just convince me to get a Nissan. Also, the reason I've always heard as to why we don't get the Hilux isn't the government, it's that Toyota thinks the more car-like ride and handling of the Tacoma will do better in the American m...

Re: Nissan with a 5.0 Cummins?

I understand that the hilux has a cult like following but I don't think it has a market here. It is rated to tow/haul more than the Tacoma but it is an underpowered diesel. Not to mention being a lightweight truck makes it harder to control when you max its weight limits.

This sounds like a great move for Nissan. A Japanese truck with a powerful diesel motor should sell well.

Re: Key Attributes for a Bug Out Vehicle

I tow a reasonably heavy caravan (what do you call them, trailer home or something?) and for towing a manual gearbox is much preferred, especially in hilly terrain. Can you elaborate why? I've towed 18k lbs on narrow, winding mountain roads with an auto several times and it had no problems. Because...

Re: Key Attributes for a Bug Out Vehicle

I am sure that there isn't a diesel option in the US due to Toyota not believing there is a big enough market. Personally if I was in the market for a smaller than 1/2 ton truck, I wouldn't be interested in the 3.0 diesel. Maybe if they had a diesel with more torque.

Re: fuel efficient 4x4 bov? whats your BOV MPG?

My DD and BOV, an F350 with a 6" lift and 37x13.5" tires, makes about 16mpg in town and about 20mpg on the highway. I did see 29 mpg for about 30 miles at 55mph on a flat road.

Re: Key Attributes for a Bug Out Vehicle

The 1/2, 3/4, 1 ton ratings are purely for namesake these days. My F350 has a payload capacity of 4260lbs which is over 2 tons. It easily carries in excess of 6k pounds without having issues with the brakes or with the suspension "bottoming".

Re: Key Attributes for a Bug Out Vehicle

In my opinion a good BOV should be able to travel on dirt roads that are muddy/snowy/icy. You do not need a 4wd with a transfer case for that, AWD or a decent limited slip should work. It should also have a decent amount of cargo space. As far as range, the most important thing is to start with a fu...

Re: Chevy vs GMC

Chevy vs GMC get whichever you like more. Will a thousand dollars of options to make one the same as the other break your dad? Probably not. I will say that for what you say your dad will do, a Tundra can compete with the American trucks. Push the half tons over their rated limits and the Tundra sto...

Re: Bug Out Vehicle Porn - pictures only please

Thanks! I like it a lot so far. I also got rid of my dust collector, a Cayman S, at my wife's request. I couldn't use it much due to having a newborn. I will be getting a 911 when my daughter is old enough to be out of a baby seat. That was another truck on my short list. Sweet truck, brother!
