I have one of the roll up panels. They are really cool and you can use them to whip one of these up... http://www.rain.org/~philfear/how2solar.html The system I described above is basically a larger, non-mobile version of this setup. Could come in very handy for PAW situations. I got a 20Watt on eba...

BenR, This is true, I would love to have a bank of Rolls batteries but a 6V 545AH cost over $500 and I would need at least TWO of those to run anything and that Outback inverter is the stuff dreams are made of :) But... I have like $65 in each of my batteries. They are 75AH each. $325 for 375AH. Tru...

I think if you sell 1,000 head of cattle for food production then knowing where they have been is a good idea, but that is not what the NAIS is about. The REALLY backwards part is that IF I was a commercial farmer that sold 1,000 head of cattle I would only need 1 number for ALL of the cattle, yet i...

I have a small "back-up" system for poweroutages. I have a single 120W panel hooked up to 10 amp controller. I have 5 deep-cycle marine batteries from the local mega-mart. These are hooked up to a 750W inverter puts out about 6 amps. When the power goes out it is enough to run the satellite box and ...

HOORAY!! The NAIS program is dead!

I just found out that this Orwellian nightmare didn't pass. If this law had went through it would have required EVERY animal that can be used for food on your property to have a registered number that showed its GPS location, who owened it and where it was born. Anytime you moved the animal from the...

synthetic receivers

I have seen a few of these available, mostly for the AKs. I was wondering what would happen (not that I am going to) if these guns were fired with these receivers? Most of the research I have done seems to show the main purpose of the AK receiver is to hold the trigger mech. in place. Would the gun ...

Gun show prices

Hey folks, I just got back from a gun show today and was floored by the insanely high prices they were asking for stuff; SKS (cheap stamped) $249 Mosin Nagent $239 AR15 $1300 Mossburg 500 $299 The last one I went to a few months ago had really decent prices. Has anyone else noticed a jump in prices?...

I had a raised bed garden that recieved mostly shaded light. I planted 20+ tomatoe plants as an experiment. They all grew well and produced many pounds of tomatoes. The only down side was that since the plants needed more sun than they got, they grew very long and thin and had to be fully supported....

Pet stores DO NOT sell nutured guiena pigs. That would add a huge expense to selling them. If you get one from a pet rescue place, they may be nutured. Any pair you buy from the pet store will work, just amke sure the female is under 6 weeks old or that she has had at least 1 litter of pups, if not ...

I've done a lot of research into the whole guiena pig thing. It is quite possible. For around $50 you can get a breeding pair going. They produce a full brood ever 8 weeks. In South America the guiena pig is replacing the chicken as the produce animal of choice. couple of links for info http://gosou...

I just to throw my 2 cents in.

My XD9 is almost 2 years old, had way over 1000 rds through it and I've only had 1 jam. I blame it on some funky 10 year old ammo my dad had.
I like my XD a lot.

I'm a shotgun man too, don't get me wrong. I'm going out on a limb with the Hi point 9mm carbine with the after market stock. The gun is $200 brand new with a lifetime warranty, you can now get a 15 round mag for it and you only have to carry one type of ammo for your carbine and your sidearm. Some people bad-mouth the Hi point bt I have sho...

New memeber in the southern garrison

Hey folks,
Long time zombie killer, first time caller. I really like the mix going on here. I've been waiting for the zombies ever since 1978 and I still have my fingers crossed.
Hope I can be an asset to the cause.
Thanks
