Re: TSA approved pocket knives?

I like the idea of traveling with my tiny-sized leatherman or SAK again.

I like having an EDC tool with me, even...especially when traveling.

TSA has been winning the fear/hassle war for Al Qaeda for years...it's high time that we took a little bit back.

I googled, and got washes with white vinegar, then baking soda, then regular detergent...but that seems mainly for the smell...good luck!

Re: Marlin 1894 .44mag Lever Gun?

I have, and love, a levergun that I bought a year or two ago for 100 yard deer and wild boar hunting and brush-hunting...nice short barrel and lots of punch...holds ten in the pipe and one in the chamber.

It's a fun little gun! If you have the means, I'd strongly recommend going for it.

Re: kimchi - anyone make their own?

I made my first ever batch of kimchi yesterday afternoon...I googled a bunch of recipes and took an average of them, based on what I had to work with, eschewing fancy stuff that I would have to buy special... Veggies 1 head cabbage - spine/core taken out, chopped into 1.5" cubes, dropped in cold/sal...

I've had a CS Brooklyn Smasher (baseball bat made of polyproylene) in the back of my car for years...it's cheap, indestructible, lethal, and not noteworthy when I get pulled over...

Re: Vargo Hex Stove/Spark-Lite fire starter - Practice

I used the vargo hex stove on a recent winter camping trip, and was really impressed....the second time around. The first time, I got the fire going and then went crazy finding small stuff to feed it before it went out. The second time I spent about 5 minutes beforehand making a couple of piles of t...

How about no shovel?

I've done endless camping, numerous MBOs, and have never wished that I brought along a shovel...I used to bring along a tiny poop-trowel, but nowadays, I used the heel of my boot to scrape up a small trench, then replace the soil and sod by hand afterwards.

Re: Awkard moments or negative responses while using your ED

The other day, one of my students took off a ratty sweatshirt she'd been wearing and ended up catching a nylon thread around her neck. She started freaking out a bit and pulling it tighter, so I grabbed my CRKT folder out of my backpack and went over to help. I told the student to hold her sweatshir...

Nope, If you need to use it for cooking or charging something, do it outside.
