Re: Drew my gun for the fist time.....on a dog

I've got a few things for people to think about. How would you handle it if a stray/aggressive dog that you could have put down, runs away and attacks a small child later on, possibly killing them? In the PAW, what if you saw a starving stray dog that was eyeballing your small herd/flock but wasn't...

Re: Drew my gun for the fist time.....on a dog

I grew up about 15 miles out of town, and people dumping dogs has always been a big problem for us. Inevitably they get hungry and start killing our livestock. The SOP for us is as follows: If the dog is exhibiting aggressive behavior towards us, shoot it. If no aggressive behavior, attempt to call...

Re: Drew my gun for the fist time.....on a dog

...snip*... Riding about a block away form my FIL's house I notice 3 rather large dogs come out from the side of a house running up to our left, growling, hair standing up and just generally being aggressive. I yell expecting that to make them stop, which it does not. I'm about six feet in front of...

Re: Vehicle Emergency Repair Kits - VERKs

Maybe I am overthinking it a bit, but I also know the way I am in tough situations... I deal with the current crisis, push everything else to the rear, and worry about tidying up when things calm down. Now, assuming something like a PAW, I figure there will be enough to keep me busy that I may not ...

Re: Vehicle Emergency Repair Kits - VERKs

Yeah, the roll stuff is not J.B. Weld, it's the plumbers type stuff that's a lot weaker. And the forces involved are more complex than just the pressure of the system. Think of it this way... and this is really a gross oversimplification... Let's say you have a one inch long by quarter inch thick s...

Re: Vehicle Emergency Repair Kits - VERKs

I'm curious as to which two part epoxy you used to try and fix that. The reason is that the shear strengths of them vary quite a bit. For example, the "Pro-Poxy" type plumbers epoxy (looks like a roll of clay) can be found in strengths ranging from a low of about 400psi to about 900psi, then there'...

Re: Vehicle Emergency Repair Kits - VERKs

Hey does anyone have a good VERK for a punctured radiator? I can only tell you what didn't work for me. I've had hoses blow and heard that in an emergency you can use duct tape, but I never had one blow far enough away from an auto parts store that I couldn't just buy a RPL hose and change it out ri...

Hades. The Zombie Minitruck (since I'm currently "ressurecting it from the dead" - aka salvage title after a ninja in a firebird decided to turn left in front of me unexpectedly.) I think it has enough dynamat in the doors to be semi-bulletproof. It's heavy enough at any rate. It's not by BOV tho, ...

Re: Vehicle Emergency Repair Kits - VERKs

I carry around a small VERK in my Civic, but my show truck has the best VERK ever IMO built into it, since I get extra points at the car shows for it and all. I set my air ride system up to also run air tools, ... Dang DJH, does it have a name? I think the only thing left is you could add 1/4 steel...

Re: Fix you aiming with this chart

I've found that this chart over simplifies things. Agreed. If there's something wrong with your grip or your form, nothing short of an instructor is going to be able to really diagnose the problem. And to be perfectly blunt, a lot of shooters lack the fundamentals needed to make proper use of this ...

Vehicle Emergency Repair Kits - VERKs

Lets get a list of Everyday Carry repair kits and tips/instructions for handling those vehicle breakdowns that may occur on a bug out. I'll start with a VERK that I have for FLAT TIRE REPAIR. I drive between 600-700 miles a week in my Explorer for work and I always have these items with me. I can vo...

Re: STUDY SHOWS ZOMBIES HAVE NO IMMUNITY TO BRAIN-BORNE DISE

Interesting...but I've always thought that normal bodily functions would have ceased. No digestion or circulation means the kuru virus would not make it to the brain. They don't need immunity to brain-borne diseases because they are already dead. Necrosis is a frightening advantage in this instance...

Re: Why don't Zombies eat each other?

I always assumed that because their normal endocrine functions have ceased that they were deficient of pyruvate or some other metabolite needed for muscle function. That or that they needed an essential amino acid such as Lysine found in their prey (us). But what do I know? I'm way outside of my pa...

Re: Why don't Zombies eat each other?

OK, assuming they prefer living humans to either 1. feed 2. spread the virus This then leads to other questions. At what point do the Zombies stop eating a victim, especially if they are in a feeding frenzy? And why? If one bite is enough to spread the virus, then why aren't they just biting like ra...

STUDY SHOWS ZOMBIES HAVE NO IMMUNITY TO BRAIN-BORNE DISEASES

I found this article by Anna Phillips, Science Correspondent for ScrapeTV. Thought I'd share it. December 5 2009 Washington, D.C. Real world science has also become interested in the possibility of real life zombies and though it’s unlikely that a global apocalypse will ever occur, the study has rem...

Re: Proper name for a group of zombies?

I would just call them what they looked like. For example: "Oh shit! Half naked face fucker is coming for a visit!" "A big group o' shitters are over there." "How many times have I told you? Shoot the asschompers in the HEAD!" "Kim Jong-Il lookin' douche outside the door." :| Here's one then... "Lo...

Re: Proper name for a group of zombies?

I propose, for lurkers- 1-5, Childsplay to handle, Lurker, or 'Camper' (throwback to video games) Dozen or two, give or take ie, a manageable number- 'Office' (as was mentioned) 25-100, or an unmanageable number- Fubat (I liked that one) And for the 'roamers'/'walkers' 5-20, Stagger (since they mov...

Re: low price get back home guns.

With the stock cut off why wasn't this considered a Pistol conversion and therefore a $5 tax stamp? I would think it would either be classified a pistol or special weapon which are both $5 tax stamps? Did you do the stock after the barrel? If it still had the stock it would definetly be a Short bar...

Re: low price get back home guns.

Mossberg 500 'shorty'. 9.5" barrel. 3 magnums in the mag and one in the pipe. $450 used from FFL, but the NFA requirement made it to valuable to leave in the car and so I took it out. Now just CCL and Walther PPS40 [not saying that its low price though] http://i1157.photobucket.com/albums/p584/MacWa...
