Re: Z Nation on Syfy
Catching Episode 1 on On-Demand now. Better than I expected I'll admit. ETA: And yep, the baby thing was about as dumb as expected. ETA2: And episode 2. Hmm. Quite a few bad decisions there. But as somebody stated before, no bad decisions = no drama = no tv show, so whatever. It's amusing so far. I'...

Re: Anyone watch Sons of Guns
I was never impressed with their work. At least what I could see on TV. And you would think they would show their best. Seriously they put a guy in the assembly room that didn't know how, and could not find out how to, assemble an AR. They needed to stick to AK's and keep that working perfectly. 90...

Dunno if it really counts as "bug out gear" but it's certainly useful as long as the GPS grid stays up. Picked up a Garmin Nuvi 2557LMT today.

Once again, I'd like to request people move discussion of root causes to another non-DICE thread, but when you do, please include a link to this video in it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=j-P54MZVxMU This is cell phone video of yesterdays non-ferguson-related officer-invol...

Re: Riots in St Louis?
The comms preps are obviously coming into use and showing their value. With all the gassing use by police lately at many such incidents across the country, I've been considering the gas mask preps more seriously. Looking into the Israeli made units myself. I'd look for one that doesn't have a filte...

Re: Riots in St Louis?
AFAIK I had seen people using their firearms preps to defend their businesses. Not firing them, but just having them as a deterrent. Best possible use of the resources, IMHO.crypto wrote:Yes, I mentioned that a couple pages ago. The executive order was signed late last night, troops have been heading up there today.
The idea is to use the NG to guard the police command post, which frees up a lot of policemen to get out on the streets.

Don't know about the scanners, but the reasoning I read for the no-fly is that there were shots fired at Police helicopters.

^^^Agreed. One thing about the looting that always boggles the mind to me at least, it's your own community, most of time. You're still living there afterwards. How do you walk into the store you robbed later and look the employees who work there in the eye again? The ones you made small talk with b...

Re: Z Nation on Syfy
yeah saw a preview for that one. Hopes are not up high for it, SyFy seems to have a pretty low success rate with TV shows. They have the occasional winner (BSG, Defiance) but this doesn't look to be one of them. I am a little excited for the "Ascension" (http://www.syfy.com/ascension) mini-series th...

Riots, looting in Ferguson, Missouri after protest against police for shooting death of Michael Brown (*Click*) I know that if one of my friends or family were killed by police in disputed circumstances one of the first things I'd wanna do is loot the QT and Footlocker. Pretty much. Went thru this ...

Just picked up used copies of Deus Ex: Human Revolution & the Mass Effect Trilogy. Let's see what these are about... look fun.
ETA: Yep, really liking Mass Effect so far. Damned shame I missed these when they first came out, but getting them in trilogy form is cool.

They really need science and US Navy advisers. They probably have them, and they probably do what just about every production does with such advisors: Advisor "that wouldn't work that way, this is how it would work - etc etc." Director or Producers "**** that, we like how what we're doing looks. sh...
