Re: Article on the "climate apocalypse"

Severe weather and the causes are a bit of interest here in the ZS:20 region. We've had a few snowpocalypse, snowmageddon events that have shut down the city and forced people to bunker in. As a result, wintertime, for me, means an increase in prepping, checking gear, going over contingencies, etc.

That premiere made me think up a great drinking game: Drink every time there's a moment when one of the characters should have screamed, "Oh, Goddamn it!"

Indeed, raptor is correct. I'd hoped there'd be talk of how to prepare for such an event or something like it.

Interesting piece from Salon on Hollywood-style disasters. I saw the headline and went, "Oh, Goddamn it!" Re: The "Joaquin" Dead - Atlantic Coast Hurricane

Rainfall in SC really illustrates the need to prep basic food, water and supplies. Stay safe everyone affected by this.

Forecast still predicts a crap-ton of rain, three months worth in three days, so plan accordingly and stay safe, everyone.

Full schedule and by the time there's a break it'll be a bit cold for a 4-year-old. I'll probably get out one more time by myself, though.

Now it looks like GoLite is revamping into a company called My Trail. And I dunno what to think of it. I got an email today, which I'm going to ignore, asking for investors. Here's a partial: While running GoLite, Demetri ‘Coup’ Coupounas developed innovative products that won a slew of Backpacker E...

Re: Civilian Concealed Carry vs. Peace Officer

I think the better question is:

Do I want to become a police officer to serve and protect my community or do I just want to legally carry a firearm wherever I want?

Huge difference.

I'm very confused about the military hunter-killer teams roaming the streets, gunning down uninfected civilians. Realistically, I can't see that happening, especially at such an early stage in the outbreak.

Re: Fear The Walking Dead

Did the Lt. seem a bit old for an Lt.? When I was n Iraq I routinely ran into national guard NCOs that looked like they were late 40 and early 50....a national guard lt pushing 35 or 40 wouldn't be to crazy Yup. A buddy of mine in his mid-30s recently got his commission in the guard. Not uncommon. ...

Final family outing of 2015

Packed the van and spent a fantastic weekend with my wife, son and some friends in the Kettle Moraine forest in Wisconsin. We really like early fall camping and wish we could do it more often. Here's the trip highlights: Nice day hike Saturday. Sunny and clear on the prairie. My little chap insisted...
