Re: Are there any NVD users here?

No. We get issued those lights. We have modern NVGs that have IR floods on them. The IR setting on that helmet light is not meant for personal illumination. Trust me. I have one with 3 white/2 red, one with 3 white/2 blue, and one with 3 green/2 IR. All have the IR beacon on the side. My tubes are ...

Re: Are there any NVD users here?

Helmet IR lights are not for you to see things, they're for you to be seen. The beacon on them is for marking friendly....but the forward facing is meant for illumination. http://soldiersystems.net/blog1/wp-content/uploads/2008/06/operator-hat-with-light.jpg However....it does give folks a target.....

Re: Are there any NVD users here?

how well do surefire helmet lights (the IR lights) work out with the night vision goggles/monoculars? (I have a spotting scope, but nothing goggle/mounted stuff) Personally I'm not real impressed with the helmet lights. They are OK for close in work...but it doesn't hold a candle to the Photon IRs....

Re: Are there any NVD users here?

I've been running this set up for the last couple weeks....a couple hours each night.

It really makes a difference having both eyes focused.

I had to add a bit more counterweight to the back....it balances pretty good now.

I'm going to start looking for a helmet up grade now....:)

You didn't mention it in your descriptions, but I love that there's a piece of picatinny rail attached. That's a fantastic idea The Alpha comes with it.....nice feature though. Gotta watch what type of mounts you use for lights....my favorite mount will not allow me to wear my Peltor Comtac under t...
