The mini-30 might not be a bad idea. We already have a large stock of 7.62x39, so perhaps I'll look into that. We also have a large supply of 9mm, and my handgun takes that caliber as well. I'm just looking for something that will reliably shoot every time my wife pulls the trigger. I've heard it's ...

Failure, The reason I said that "fragile, plasticky, jam-prone" shit is because my opinion is that AR-15s are "fragile, plasticky, jam-prone shit." If you don't like my opinion, then enjoy your AR-15. I don't care if you love your AR-15 so much, you use it to masturbate your ass at night. I've alrea...

ERMA Werke?

Hello,

I have an ERMA Werke .22 rifle.

Does anyone know anything about this maker? Are they any good? Do you need to see a photo of the rifle?

Thanks in advance for your expertise.

I wasn't attempting to hijack your thread, I gave a direct response to your question of "is the M1 carbine a good alternative?" It seems your mind is already made up and you're looking for confirmation of your opinion. Yes. it will hit a man at 100m. Have you thought about a mini-14? You should be ...

Re: M1 Carbine?

You can build an AR for around $600. The ballistics of the M1 carbine suck ass, simply put. I wouldn't consider it a viable alternative to the AR for your wife. Of course, I am one of those pesky "AR-15 lovers on the board". I'm glad you love the AR-15! I really am. I'm sure the AR-15 is an excelle...

M1 Carbine?

Heya, We're in the process of choosing a semiautomatic PAW rifle for my beloved wife, Tonya. The AK-47 I have is great for me, but just too heavy for wifey. At first, we were thinking of getting an AR-15. Then we decided we don't want a somewhat fragile, plasticky, historically jam-prone rifle to de...

There's definately a difference between a PAW situation and a disaster situation. Let's not forget what PAW stands for. Post-apocalyptic means society is out for good, or for a long while. That being said, my BOB is for short-term disasters. It is a black backpack I got from Wal Mart that is a bookb...

Ok, just what IS an assault rifle?

Hidey-ho! I'm aware that although my semi-auto AK-47 is defined as an assault rifle according to defunct US gun ban laws, it is not really an assault rifle. This means that people are calling guns assault rifles when they actually aren't. Can someone please spell out for me the precise requirements ...

Hahaha if you like the hat, keep the damn thing. Nothing say loving like a good hat to keep rain from running down the back of your collar. With regards to the maglight issue, I'll agree, but how about some redundancy? The most important thing in the dark is a good flashlight, preferably a bright o...

Another O/T post- What are the particulars on that scope? How does it perform? What brand? The bag is well put-together, asides from the previously mentioned lack of TP. I guess it's time to put some TP in there. :) The scope is a Leapers 3-12X44 30mm Reticle Intensified Illuminated Mil-Dot Compact...

Status: Unmarried, no kids, limited funds Forget the AR-15. It's too expensive if you are on limited funds. AR=$1000. AK=$300. Get an AK-47. Being cheap as dirt and completely reliable, it's definately a "basic" zombie-killing weapon. Also, they aren't made of plastic and break all the time like the...

My first BOB

Hello, all! First let me say that getting a BOB together is fun hobby. Not only that, but it's a good thing to have around. I’ve finally gathered everything for my BOB, except food. You don't need to point out the need for food, because I’ll get some MREs after Christmas and my BOB will be complete!...

Wind power and solar power are weak technologies at the moment, so they would need many, many years of improvements to actually replace fossil fuels (with current technology, if you covered the entire globe with solar panels, it would not be enough to power the state of California). Solar power nee...
