Re: RANGE REPORT: Kel-Tec PF9 (New in box)

Two things: First: I neglected to mention in my previous haste to post earlier that the magazine also fell out of the well 11 times when firing, which was just embarrassing, and Second: As far as revolvers go, I just want something that is inexpensive to shoot, but not a .22 (I have heard that .357s...

RANGE REPORT: Kel-Tec PF9 (New in box)

I purchased a Kel-Tec PF9 NIB from a LGS for HD and potential CCW if I ever get around to getting it. I took it to the range today with two range buddies. My report follows: 156 rounds fired - 100 Winchester white box, 56 Federal. Federal Rounds - 7 FTE, 1 Stovepipe, 3 FTF. Failure Rate = 19.642% Wi...

I want FoF classes with simunitions.

I want retention and hand to hand classes.

Also, we have a few ZS-001 members who are MO CCW instructors and are looking for a range to do coursework at.

Just don't go to the range expecting to put 500rds down range in one day.
Between the PF9 and my MN91/30, "range day" for me is becoming better known by my friends as "masochism day"

Re: Just in case there weren't enough "help me decide" threa

Went to the LGSs this morning and found a shop that carried both. Now, I realize that the way a firearm feels in your hand and how it shoots are two different animals. That said, I am an extremely tactile person. Held the LC9 and instantly hated the way it handled and when Mrs. Ansgar held she actua...

Re: Yes, another "help me buy" thread

Hey guys, I'm new around here so boepfully I'm not repeating anything. I've put a lot of thought into what the best handgun is and it comes down to one simple question; what does your local police use? If you ever find yourself in a situation were you need to rely on a fire arm for a long period ti...

Re: Just in case there weren't enough "help me decide" threa

Thanks for the quick responses, guys. :) Based on your responses and my own research, I think I've narrowed it down to the Ruger LC9 or the Kel-Tec PF9. Sometime this week I plan to go to the LGS, fondle both models and see how they print for front pocket carry. Any preferences/rewiews between the t...

Just in case there weren't enough "help me decide" threads

...here's another one! Mrs. Ansgar has given her blessing for me to purchase a firearm off my impending refund monies. I have been debating between a Ruger 10/22 and a handgun. I am leaning toward a handgun as it stands for several reasons: 1. A 10/22 would make a great range toy and I am far more e...

Re: Norinco SKS D

I'm terribly nearsighted and have gotten to the point of putting a 1x pistol scope on my Mosin for the long eye relief and to actually get some type of sight picture as I could no longer see through the factory sights well enough to hit things. That actually worked out quite well for me.

10/22 sporter availability issue?

I've visited and talked to several LGS's in my area and none of them can seem to find a 10/22 sporter used at all and the best I've gotten for new is "the supply is unreliable, but when the distributor gets some in we can call you." Has anyone else noticed a conspicuous shortage of 10/22s in their a...

Anyone own on of these stocks? They make bullpup stocks for AK, SKS, Saiga 12, Mosin Nagant, Remington 597, Mossberg 702, and the Ruger 10/22. The one review I found was for the Remington 597 stock and the owner loved it, even saying the trigger pull was lighter then before. I may have to get a sai...

Re: 5.45x39 vs. 7.62x39?

I got so sick of the 5.45 vs 7.62 debate I just throw bananas now, only bananas. It's just easier. Sometimes mashed if I know it's going to be CQB range, keep 'em in the peel if I'm going for distance. Penetration, oddly enough, seems to be the same. It's the wave of the future. 8-) -urban You're o...

Re: Looking for a gun shop in St. Charles or St. Louis Count

What ever you do do not go to Bulls eye on Manchester in the city. I really, really, hate those fuckers. Bass Pro, Nassau, Mike's, Graffs, and Cabelas are all good options. If you want to take a drive I go to Denny Dennis, Top Gun, Mid-America Arms, and for 20 dollar transfers I go to The Alamo on ...

Re: What Ranges Do You Kids Use?

I only go to Reifschneider. It's a little bit of a drive and requires crossing a creek (not fun in a compact sedan), but save for the occasional LEO dropping by for a once over, you're generally left alone. Does get a bit packed on weekends, though.

Mike's is the one I'm really looking at right now, as he seems to have the best prices. As an added bonus, it's not far from work, so when I get my tax money, I can pick it up on my way home (I like having a job that closes shop at 3pm).

Looking for a gun shop in St. Charles or St. Louis County.

I'm looking to find a good price on a Glock 26 and don't like buying online. I live in St. Charles County and have found a 3rd Gen NIB for $495. I haven't bought a handgun in several years, so I'm not sure if the price sounds right or not. Does anyone know of a better price in the area/willing to pa...

Re: Pistol selection advice?

My interwebs has been on the fritz the last couple of days. I went to a few gun stores since my initial post and handled the XD 9, the LC9 and the Glock 19 and 26. I decided on the G26, to be purchased when my tax return comes in.

Pistol selection advice?

I need some help on choosing a pistol. I attempted using the search function, but didn't find anything that quite matched, but I could have easily missed a thread. Background: This would not be the first pistol I have owned. I had a Glock 23 that I had to sell to in 2007 to help pay moving expenses....

Hey has anyone heard of these? http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/TAC240101-1.html They look interesting I had that sling (in green) on my M16A2 in Iraq back in 2005. I really liked it, it was great for weapon retention and getting it up to shoulder quickly, but I got rid of it after 3 days because the...

Re: dumbest thing youve ever done with a firearm

Went to the range with a "surprise guest." I had planned to go out shooting with an old friend who I knew to be generally safe with firearms by a combination of discussion and experience of seeing how carefully he handles a weapon of any kind, firearm or not over the more than a decade that we've kn...
