Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
Just out of curiosity...did you read this in full before you posted it? Yes, I did and I freely admit that I'm not a financial expert so there's really none of it I'm qualified to critique. Does your overall objection boil down to economic fortune tellers are now predicting an even worse downturn t...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
This study: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3561934 shows a net economic gain of $5.2 Trillion via the social distancing measures and stay-at-home orders compared letting the economy run wide open and having the pandemic burn like Australia (jesus, that was only a couple of month...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"
I do not know about Stercutus but I doubt that claim for the simple reason that the intense heat and UV light in the summer causes bare skin to sunburn in ~15 minutes. I cannot imagine a virus that could be alive after an hour in the July sun in LA. Fewer contaminated surfaces should logically tran...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Do you reload? Might do the math on a couple boxes of loaded bullets, and reloading supplies. If you're only shooting, say, 3-5 rounds a year, it might be practical to just reload. Just to point out an option (and not necessarily dissuading you against an AR, but rather offering a potentially less ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
The sticky wicket with 350 legend is it uses 9mm (.355") bullets instead of .357 bullets, so there are very few choices that hold up to the velocity for hunting. I've been hitting the research pretty hard. Seems like companies are loading both .355" and .357" bullets into their .350 Legend cartridg...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Hmm.. maybe not. Just found a good numbers-based analysis of the 3 calibers. They're pretty similar in terms of killing power (though with the .350 L at the low end of the pack) but the recoil of the .350 L is way, way lower than the other two. That's a big deal honestly.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
After another day of reading, that's pretty much the list everyone is talking about: .350 Legend .450 Bushmaster .500 Beowulf I'm trying to figure out if there's really a meaningful difference between them to a noob like me. Looks like they're all going to be better than the 20ga slug I'd otherwise ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Can an AR-15 upper be built chambered in something that would meet the following regulation?
All straight-walled cartridge calibers from a minimum of .357 to a maximum of .50.

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"
I just found out someone I had over to my house recently has come down with COVID. She became mildly symptomatic two days ago and seriously symptomatic today. We had her over 10 days ago. The best study I can find say that she was contagious about 2.5 days before the onset of symptoms, so a total of...

Unemployment estimates are daunting. Mostly low wage, low skill jobs like food service and entertainment. However; factories are shutting down, at least "temporarily" as well. Honda announced they were idling their Lincoln, AL factory putting thousands out of work and trimming production by 40K car...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"
This is such a weird combination of being constantly stressed and thinking about whether or not we're making the right decisions and then getting involved in a project and completely forgetting about the pandemic until I think "Oh, I need X. I'll just run to the store and grab some... Oh..."

I'm not sure "a stone" drops as fast as this morning's market. Stayed just 0.02% above the 2nd circuit breaker, which is astonishing.

When I saw overnight DJI futures were down 1k, I figured this morning would be rough but we really need to get our shit together and stop popping the damned circuit breaker on the opening bell!

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)
I'm sorry. I just don't believe there is a proliferation of Nazi groups in the U S. I find the whole idea to be some kind of scare propaganda to draw attention away from groups who are the real threat to our country. I mean really... How many people have you met in your life sympathetic to Nazis ? ...

Not sure if your post is a joke given the news, but in case it isn't: there's major rioting in Santiago currently.

Yeah, I really think the clerk's behavior was just so weird that the driver's brain said "Nope. I am not dealing with that. That is not part of the script." and took off.

Re: Have you had to draw your concealed carry, and why?
Yes, twice. 1) Middle of the night I went out to check to see if the barn was locked. A wolf and I tried to round the same corner from different directions. He lunged at me, I shot at him. In retrospect, I've always wondered why he made an issue of it rather than running off. I wonder if he thought ...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon
It's over. We are in the end game now. Unless something changes dramatically in the next week or so we will be facing financial Armageddon by the end of October. Markets are predictable but a self inflicted gun shot wound to the head is inescapable. What just happened to give you this opinion? I mi...

Re: Exterior Door Security
I like Lockpicking Lawyer's channel. I did not know he found such a lock. Everytime I see him on Youtube it seem she has every lock in pieces faster than you can say "stop that!" There's 3 cylinders out there that are generally regarded as "destructive opening only" for lack of a better term. The A...

Re: Exterior Door Security
When we moved here, we went through a lot of trying to harden the doors. Our eventual conclusion was that this house was designed with too much ground floor glass to make it actually hard to get into. We settled for making sure of two things 1) They were going to have to break the shit out of someth...
