Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
you can get an angled picatinny mount and have the laser offset to one side. This also helps to get around a front sight if you have one. The tiny lasers use tiny batteries with short lifespans. http://combatsportsupply.com/images/products/detail/UTGMAS0340.jpg Hadn't thought about the battery issu...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.
Found out I can't get my head down enough to see through the red dot with my full face respirator on. I'd like to patch this issue with a rail or mlok mounted laser. Is anyone aware of a really small laser-only package other than the LaserMax Uni-Max? Aren't there lots of pistol lasers? Do you thin...

Re: The Coming Civil War - (Warning: No Politics)
Rand Paul was assaulted by approximately 100 rioters last night as he and his wife left the White House. They were barely extracted by DC Police. These people were not clamoring for his friggin' autograph. That's where we are now- public lynchings of duly elected representatives from other states t...

Re: What's the best way to get to a 300BLK pistol today?
+1 on checking local independent shops. They often have stuff the internet doesn't. That said, do you have a place to buy 300 BLK ammo? Because right now that's harder to find than the guns if you don't want to pay 3x what it cost a few months ago. People who chose BLK as their goto round are hurti...

Re: What's the best way to get to a 300BLK pistol today?
I was trying to hunt parts of a gun when I happened to find a CMMG Banshee 300 pistol in 300 BLK at a local store for less than the internet wanted for it. We went over today and bought it, which was a horribly stressful experience because the store was packed, no one was social distancing, and the ...

Re: What's the best way to get to a 300BLK pistol today?
Oh, and what's your budget? I am fully aware of what a cop-out answer this is, but "as much as it takes without being stupid and overpaying due to price gouging". So I won't pay $2,000 for one because that's just making some profiteer rich but I'm also not stupid enough to think it can be done for ...

What's the best way to get to a 300BLK pistol today?
Our situation has suddenly changed and and I'm looking for a gun that has better terminal ballistics than our current 9mm pistols while operating in a car and still threads the weird and irrational patchwork of laws that pertain in our jurisdiction. Given the idiocy of the laws at play and goals for...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon
Even that's an oversimplification. It's not incorrect, but neither is it correct. The problem, especially in the US, is trying to apply the same rules everywhere. What makes sense for somewhere like NYC is nonsensical for somewhere like where I live in rural Texas. I mean, forget 2 meters separatio...

This is not good at all. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/06/in-california-57percent-filing-for-unemployment-lost-their-jobs-again.html Indeed, more than half of people who recently applied for unemployment benefits in the Golden State had lost their jobs (or had their hours cut) again after having ret...

Can the hour-limit for RCA/CBRN filters be "paused" be vacuum storing them?
Given that the large metro area we have to commute through has been getting increasingly feisty and has been seeing Riot Control Agents use every day during some weeks, I'm thinking of taking our full-face respirators we have from a previous business and leaving them in the car with RCA-approved fil...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"
In St Louis more people than ever are wearing masks in stores. Several stores, like Menards, Best Buy and Micro Center demand masks to enter. My sweetie was in Menards last weekend and police was actually called to ask a man to leave the store who wasn't properly masked. Which seems a little extrem...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
Either way you are still making assumptions based upon the Chinese not coming up with anything different such as figuring out a way to cover their tracks by hiding what a researcher would normally look for. This is pure hubris. It's far less absurd than, in the complete, utter, and total absence of...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
The stuff I've read said "there is not evidence of engi because when we asked our datasets what would be the optimal way of attacking a human, we got a different attack method than the virus uses." The simplest rebuttal is "Wuhan might be using a different data set than your model used. Especially ...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
That said IMO the origin/evolution of the virus itself (whether man made or natural) is irrelevant as to the question of was it used as a weapon. If it is man made that does not mean it was developed as weapon and if natural that does not mean it cannot be used as a weapon. The current claim I see ...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
2008 according to Snopes. But Snopes also says the virus is not man made. Which is uncertain. Genetic assay of SARS-CoV-2 shows it to be unbelievably unlikely to be man made. The genome lacks telltales of deliberate modification and has a lot of the traits of natural evolution. SARS-CoV-2 is about ...

Re: Anyone have a clever way to secure firearms cheaply?
Hmm, that's not a bad idea. We do own the place, so we can get destructive/creative. Right now, I'm considering taking a solid core interior door, cutting it down to fit the tiiiiiny closet I have, then using a proper deadbolt in that. It's an outswinging door, so I could reinforce the stops so anyo...

Anyone have a clever way to secure firearms cheaply?
Due to some good fortune, I now have guns I have no place to store securely. In the long run, I'd like to get a SturdySafe as they're the cheapest thing I've found that actually would give someone a hard time getting into it. However, that good fortune I mentioned didn't come with 2 grand to buy a s...

We did just get a fairly low price on a Generac propane-only generator to make 240V to power the well pump but that's the hardest-starting small engine I've ever used. There's no way my wife could start it and it nearly kills me on a good day (I have spinal problems and have a lot of not good days)...

We had a Clicklist pickup at Kroger today. None of the meat we had on our order was fulfilled. My wife went in and there was literally nothing in the meat section except the veggie fakes. Drove to a 2nd Kroger about 10mi away and they had some frozen fish and some whole chickens with bones in and so...

Re: COVID-19 Chat Thread
In early January, when I saw China's manufacturing was getting all messed up, one of the things I worried about 6-9-12 months down the line was the economic fallout, supply chain shortages, and likely infrastructure problems. So we took the hardware we had from back in the "if we lose power, our hou...

Just tried to buy a second freezer for the garage. Home Depot, Lowe's, Walmart, and Best Buy are all sold out until the middle of July at the earliest. Even the few that were on Craigslist have all been sold, including ones that needed repairs. About 5 weeks ago, I had the same experience. No new f...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"
100% correct. Which is an unprecedented move by the CDC. This wasn't done a couple years ago for H1N1, despite having a pretty high death count. Which makes many skeptical. Maybe every one of those 3,700 people had covid. Maybe some died of the flu or something else. Maybe all of them did. When the...
