Re: Bob's GHB. Critique anyone?

For the short distance you are travelling you have a lot of stuff don't you? 16 miles on foot is NOT a short distance. In a real SHTF situation it could take you a week to go that distance if you move properly. Word ODA 226! I thought the same thing. Especially with the route I have to go and the f...

Re: The Cheap Knife Thread.

CRKT is some good stuff for sure. I had a pair of M16s made by them...but I either misplaced one, or lost it... it hasn't turned up anywhere. :x However, I got it when it was on sale. I am hoping it turns up in the laundry basket or something. I have the tanto point, and the other one was more of a...

Re: The Cheap Knife Thread.

I have 2 folding Crkt knives and i love them. What i need to get is a better fixed blade knife. The one i got is a little soft for my liking. Many knives have been listed here on the forums for me to chose from.

Re: Tablet Stoves

I've used the same old Esbit stove for over a decade until i got a JetBoil in 2006 (or there-abouts). I still have it and still use it in BOB(1). I also have a cheapy (coglans) that is kind of rickety and the hinges that hold it together look like they'll go after one season of normal use. Also, th...

Re: What are your "Triggers"?

I think I agree with t deMac on this. I have one of those jobs where I am expected to be there to help bring order to chaos, and would have a hard time leaving work or not showing up so I would have to be very confident that it is a long term PAW stairing us in the face before i can bug out or in f...

Re: What would your ideal PAW job be?

Well im a jack of all trades kind of guy, I have learned how to do many things over my lifetime and can apply many in the rebuilding of a PAW. I have done carpentry, food prep/cooking, Metal working, Jewelery making, Wood carving, and a lot of other things. But what i would be mostly, and i dont see...

Is it me or does that pack look like one of the more durable packs found from REI or other civi pack sites but with more strapping for attaching things.

Like a Osprey 85 pack or simular.

Re: Bugging out to liberty Island

I have given this thing a rethink. This idea sucks so bad that is might be a good idea. After all who in their right mind would go there during a disaster? Absolutely no one. Therefore the island would be full of crazy people in need of leadership and direction. You might be just the person to prov...

Re: 2012? The End or Not?

As the story continues..... We last seen the group wondering what happened and trying to figure out what went wrong. Then they saw a newspaper on top of a trash can. The artical title "When all the pigs in the world Squeeled". After reading the artical, the group finaly knew what caused society to c...

If I am bugging out on foot: A few knives of various sizes (one slightly larger fixed, a Mora Bushcraft, and a Svord...not hacking down trees, just cutting stuff. ), Gerber multi-tool, Gerber micro multi-tool, Gerber Shard, folding saw. Would really like to add a small pack axe, or a Tomahawk...

Re: Skateboards - Worth the weight?

When I was a little kid I used to sit down on my skateboard and ride it down hills. One time I fell and scraped off both my arms, and most of my torso. Fortunately, because I was young, they grew back. My point is, in an everyday world, skateboards are dangerous. In a disaster environment without e...

Re: looking for advice fto give to my father

Well this is almost like the story between my father and myself. But slight differences. Back when i was young dad stocked up on the ammo and guns thinking it will solve all the problems if something goes bad (shtf). Even with him, he pretty much stocked up on chili and other nasty processed foods a...

I see these listed in some topics and i didnt see a dedicated thread for it and i had a few questions. Im still putting things together for 3 bags (My fathers and my BOBs and a GHB). My question is what should i be looking for in a P-38 can opener? I know i can go buy some cheap one from almost any ...

Lets see: 1. A 12 inch ruler witch might kill a vampire if used right. 2. My newly bought leatherman charge TTi. 3. A really old cheap survival knife i got back when i was a kid. 4. Pirate short sword that i been cleaning up the last few days (getting the rust out of it and treating the leather). 5....

Re: 2012? The End or Not?

My take on all of this is be prepared for anything that might happen, but dont expect it to happen. But really if you read the different websites and watch the tv shows and movies its up to how ppl accept whats there. Take whats currently known and see how its changing ppl minds on whats coming. Bac...
