Re: Most common ammo's in US?

I agree with Raptor, using the LuckyGunner stats is a good start. http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/2013-ammo-stats/ They're a major nationwide online retailer, and they posted their stats for 2012 as well and it DID include 7.62x39. See http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/2012-ammo-stats/ This very stron...

Suggestions for compact gun cleaning kit

Hey all I'm interested in finding a gun cleaning kit that is as small as possible while still retaining the capability of properly cleaning & lubricating pistols, rifles and shotguns. Most of the ones I have found are downright terrible - the packaging is FAR more tailored to being displayed in a st...

I looked up NEC on the Internet and really did not find anything useful. Will hit the library tomorrow.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Cleaned my pistol and my AR, and taught my son how to clean his Ruger 10/22. Drawing up plans to add electrical to the garage. Rare date night with the wife for mutual morale. Collected used deck lumber to build raised water barrel platform. Tomorrow going to wash out used 55 gallon drums and maybe ...

Installing new electrical

Hey all Looking for a bit of help. I want to add electrical to my secondary garage. Currently, I have to run in two extension cords from outside - one for light, the other for the sprinkler system. They're absolutely terrible and I want them gone. I am going to run electrical from the main garage th...

Re: Replacement parts for old style Blitz metal gas can

I went and bought a sheet of the kind of stuff you mentioned. I played with it a bit, but it frankly made things harder. I tried just the plastic disk and screwing the cap on a bit tighter and that seemed to work better. Time will tell.

@lovesmuggler sounds exactly what I want to do. Buy land, get basic utilities & barn set up first so the RV is good to go. Smart and economical.

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Got 5 rain barrels set to receive water. The 20' of gutter I installed caught some rain, but I need to extend more gutter on the roofline. I have another 6 barrels not set up that could still hold water but I would need to transfer to them. Another 4 could help in a pinch. My main problem though is ...

I might be able to attend that class. I am definitely interested in learning more about them. How much hands-on will happen in the course?

What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Bought more 55 gallon barrels to resell for rain harvesting. My son interviewed and landed a role at the company I work for. Wife just passed her Paralegal certification. More stability and financial resilience is in our future. I am thankful for the little things as well as the bigger milestones.

Re: Recommendations for security light / camera combo

So we have a huge raccoon and big possum visiting our back yard at night. They are both very bold when the lights go out. But shy with them on. That said, last week there was a burglary turned attempted rape right down the street from here. I will need non game cameras that are more reliable along w...

Replacement parts for old style Blitz metal gas can

I have acquired an older Blitz metal 5-gallon gas can. It appears to be missing a single part - a seal. Have a look at what it DID come with: https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5794/22178996165_035d561693_c.jpg The far left large piece screws into the can first, using threading underneath the part where...

Re: Recommendations for security light / camera combo

Thanks for the suggestions Raptor. Unfortunately, the two areas I want to light/secure are relatively low traffic areas, so I'll tend to forget about them which means they won't work when I need them to. To complicate matters where the lights would be mounted up high will make it even harder to repl...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Last night I bought 30' of roof gutter & misc parts to collect rain into my water barrels. Tonight I'll install it. New rental house has great potential.

Gotta get my fire extinguishers mounted too. Moving undid so many preps.

Recommendations for security light / camera combo

Hey all I want to add 2+ more light/camera combos to our house. The area around our home is very dark on the sides which is nice but of course I'd like to secure those areas. I'm looking for very cost effective light/camera combos that meet these requirements: Solar powered - panel must be useful fo...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Been in my new rental house for about ten days now. Finally getting back to prior level of preparedness. Biggest thing I sacrificed temporarily was the one thing I didn't want to sacrifice at all - my water storage. But it came down to not having enough time & energy to get it all done. I got sick w...

Re: Prepping behavior during a move

Yeah, that pretty much sums up what my plans are. Since we have our RV and are using that to tow the trailer, we at least have our BOV / secondary living quarters right on hand. Keeping the BOBs with us was the plan, too. But it is interesting how much less prepared you become when you don't have a ...

Re: How Have You Prepared Today? (Bug-in Location Edition)

Hmmm, this thread's gone quiet again. I'll chime in to goose it. Here's the advantages my new rental house has over the existing one. No HOA I can park my RV in the driveway which has the extra space (better security for the motorhome) It has an extra 2-car garage (including additional attic storage...
