Re: Maxpedition Versipack: Jumbo or Fatboy?

I went from the Fatboy to the Jumbo, but not because I need to haul more EDC stuff, but I use mine when running errands or just fool around in the outs with one or both of the smuelings. The Jumbo has sufficient space to pack some more neccessities than the Fatboy. The EDC basics have been the same ...

Re: Change of pace in life, have to upgrade EDC habits.

Part time suit monkey, that is what I am (among other things). Don't ditch the LM Wave. I carry ony daily, even when sporting the business attire. For the Leatherman, I use a Boker Nylon sheath, these can be worn vertically and don't bulge. It depends a bit on your physical appearance though. On a "...

One more thing from germanistan: Storage. While it was totally okay in my youth that my uncle had his rifles tossed into a cabinet in the master bedroom, things have changed. If you own a gun, you have to store them in a way that no one but you or any other person suitable to own a firearm (see TGG'...

Got me the mandatory gun safe. That thing needs some enhancements, for now it's a boring looking chunk of metal. Update to come. Money well spent. Look forward to seeing the "enhancements". Mere cosmetics and a few tweaks. From this boring thing: http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/3768056/6...

Re: Firearms Chat: Stipple that, home edition

So I bought a gun safe recently: http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/3768056/6235633530663430.jpg A 220 lbs. steel cabinet, which is mandatory for gun owners. It is, however not mandatory to keep it that boring and uncomfortable. I forgot to snap a pic from the ineriour, but given the colour ...

Tried my hand with a watch band. I think I have a hemo clamp at home to finish it nicely.

I made it following StormDrane's Instructable. Will try the alternate half hitch another time.

Now an adult that starts with an airway around 9-10mm across that loses 2-3 mm to inflamation has a fair percentage of their airway remaining. A child that started with a 5-6mm airway that loses 2-3mm of it to inflamation is down to about 25% of their original pathway for ventilation. Chiming in on...

Re: benefits to training your dog in foreign languages.

You can train your dog in Kisuaheli if you want to, any dog, any breed, any command. Basic misconception is that a dog understands the meaning of the word "sit" (or any other coherent word). It doesn't. It is conditioned to do something when a certain sound is made, or better put, when a certain tri...

Re: When Did You Start Prepping/Become a Survivalist?

Not sure wether or not I really started, especially in comparison to what other people on this board stock in what seems like a breeze of an effort. I started somewhat 15 years ago to try and beat Mr. Murphy on a daily basis. That got me into thinking beforehand and stocking some household items I v...

From the "Things I don't know shit about" department: Plants.

I am pretty good with ID'ing trees and crop. But plants? My knowledge of 'em is "You can smoke some and you can eat some". That's pretty much it. I have to work on that.

Re: Firearms Chat.....Sans catchy title

What did I suggest poorly? I understand the caliber restriction issues, but a nice CZ 550 in 6.5 is out of the question? Only the usage of calibers, and only the one you mentioned for roe deer, tbh. That would not end well here. The rifle you mentioned is not out of the question, although I am not ...

Re: Firearms Chat.....Sans catchy title

Potentially dumb question (I'm unfamiliar with Germany's firearm laws) But does getting a hunting license permit you to buy things other than hunting rifles/shotguns? I.E, pistols, semi-autos, pump shotguns, etc.? Not a dumb question. All of the above is allowed for hunters, with a few restrictions...

Congrats, what do you hunt in Germany? If memory serves my right isn't the 6.5x55 a popular hunting cartridge in Europe? Not sure what ammo availability is like there, but that might be a good route to go too. I've always wanted a 6.5x55. The hunting grounds I have acces to feature red deer, roe de...

Since it ain’t worth a separate thread, I post this here ... With only a slight delay of mere 13 years*, I signed up for getting a hunting license.
