Re: Typhoon Ramasun bearing down right now.

Yup. I'm good. Thanks for asking. Storm passed quickly. It's really just the power outage that's troublesome. Going on 47hrs no electricity in our place. Most areas have been restored though. I'm at my folks place with my kid. My sister's place is still without power as well so their kid is here as ...

Re: Typhoon Ramasun bearing down right now.

Thank you! Seems to have passed rather quickly. Winds have died down already and the rain has stopped. Power is still out and has been for about 14 hours as of now and still no power yet. A few insights on my preps: I have lots of flashlights but not enough lanterns. I have some small cheap handheld...

Re: What Did You Do Today To Prepare?

Currently, Typhoon Ramasun is going to hit in a few hours. Still at the edge right now. Here's my thread: https://www.zombiehunters.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=113395 - Added waterproofing to some parts of the roof earlier but due to time constraints, I was only able to do a single coat. - Phones...

Typhoon Ramasun bearing down right now.

Power just went out..and so it begins... 90 mile per hour winds with gusts upto 165 mph. So far not much rain, but we are still at the edge of it. Hopefully it won't rain much. - Added waterproofing to some parts of the roof earlier but due to time constraints, I was only able to do a single coat. -...

Re: My Job, My Hell...

Those Inova X5s are bombproof. Some friends' lights still work the same as when it came out years and years ago. Some have been abused and have gone through some horrific things but are still working well. My Inova X1 was my old EDC is still going strong and is now in my BOB. This was purchased 8 ye...

Re: Goal Zero Nomad 7 vs Instapark M10 solar chargers.

2A is definitely better.
The Goal Zero kit is good enough for emergencies though.
It's either in my BOB or when I travel to countries where electricity may be intermittent.
I'm thinking of a JOOS Orange for its ruggedness.

Re: Goal Zero Nomad 7 vs Instapark M10 solar chargers.

I replied to your other thread. The Guide 10 Plus has a 1A output. Enough for modern smartphones and tablets. Costco had the Nomad 7 and Guide 10 Plus on promo for only $99 and that even included the Luna USB light. I need an AA charger since my BOB gear has been streamlined to run off AAs. Headlamp...

Re: Alternative to Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus Battery Pack?

What exactly do you need to charge? Just devices? or devices + batteries? I just need to charge AA bats off a solar charger (Instapark M10). I can charge devices right from the solar panels. But didn't really feel like I needed a $35 AA charger (Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus Battery Charger). Patrick Wel...

Good choice! 2x .25s equals .50. Bigger and more stopping power than a single .45!

Travelon Anti-Theft Pistol bag + EDC gear.

I have to travel for work and I stay a few days on the average in 2-4 countries a month. From 1st to 3rd world countries. Being an outsider in a lot of places, I try to be as self-sufficient as I can when and try not to attract much or if any attention. Going through airport security often limits wh...

Re: Bugging in an apt, as the Building Manager.

Gonna be hard to teach an old dog new tricks. As you mentioned, they could and most probably going to be resistive to some change and being a lot younger than them may paint you in a negative light as a "smart ass" or know it all. They will be especially resistive if it will cost money no matter how...

Hmmm. I have to get me some Kilauea when I head back to Honolulu. Last extreme hot sauce I've tried is the After Death sauce. Hot enough to wake the dead was their slogan if I'm not mistaken. extremefood.com/After-Death-Sauce/ I'll try to order the Mega Death just for the quava nectar flavor profile...

Re: Concealed carry guns for a smaller friend?

My personal experience has mostly been mid to full size handguns. Having some range time with my granddad's 1911 and uncles' Glocks but I'm looking for a small CCW piece for me and my wife as well. I'm into a lot of sports and carrying when training when biking and running are some of the criteria I...

Re: Bugging in an apt, as the Building Manager.

Yup. Had a good time as always. 2nd time this year I was there. Just went around Waikiki last February though. How's the demographic for the building? Are there more "old timers" than children? Young couples? Single? You could try to start a program with either the majority or the most vulnerable. I...

Re: Bugging in an apt, as the Building Manager.

I just came from Honolulu a few days ago. Stayed in the Ala Moana/Waikiki area and hit up North Shore, Turtle Bay for a plate of Giovanni's. I lived in a condominium for 3.5 years. Work makes me travel and we stay in hotels often. Going through airport security often, I can only bring limited stuff ...

I personally carry a Klarus XT11 Upgrade. www.klaruslight.com/plist_show.php?id=63 http://www.klaruslight.com/upfile/XT11Upgrade/XT11-1-11.jpg Malkoff drop-ins are always good. Elzetta also uses Malkoff modules for their bodies. http://www.malkoffdevices.com/drop-in-mod/dropin-for-maglite-streamligh...
