Re: Hurricane Preps for 2015

I'm always interested in hurricane preps since I live in a tropical country and they are the more common natural calamities than happen here. I've been through several cat4 and a few cat5. We just had 3 hurricanes roll in in just the past few weeks. I've recently increased my rechargeable batteries ...

Re: Boots vs Shoes

I love boots and wear either Magnums or Palladiums often but I do use trail runners when hiking/camping. Since I don't carry large packs and only hike or camp for a couple of nights I don't mind either a lightweight hiking boot or a trail runner depending on the weather and trail conditions. I'm usi...

Re: What is your favorite beer OR what are you currently try

I'm not much of a beer drinker. I'm more of a vodka guy and sometimes a whiskey but when I'm in the mood, I go for some sweet or flavored beer. Some hard cider is good too. Currently have these in my rotation at home. Floris Honey for me and Floris Apple for the Mrs. Getting the Floris chocolate nex...

Just saw this a few days ago and read everything.
What a rush!
I keep seeing the mutants similirar to the creatures in I Am Legend. Gray and bald.
The huge one that Alex put down would be like the Tank in the Left For Dead game.
Awesome work AJ! Now I'm itching for an update!

Taking a zombie prank a little too far. WWYD Subway

A pretty elaborate prank but what would you do if trapped in a subway?

Really going to be hard to suggest AA/AAA that has some power unless it's AA form factor but uses the AA size li-ions. A good compromise. Klarus XT12. klaruslight.com/plist_show.php?id=152&lge=en Runs on 18650, 2x 123, 2x RCR123. Has a waterproof magnetic USB charging port. Momentary on. Dedicated s...

Re: painiac's Essential Guide to Android, 2014 Edition

I try to keep my phone small as the trend now is to make the screen bigger and the high resolution displays work the processor and gpu harder. Perfect phone for me right now (if only it wasn't so expensive) is the Sony Z3 Compact. has top end specs, dual front speakers and still waterproof. Unfortun...

Unless I missed it what is a good droid app for GPS maps and navigation without a data connection? I haven't posted in a while. WW, try Osmand. You can download maps and use it offline. just make sure to change map save directory to sd card since the maps are big but they have whole cities in them....

I use iso-butane canisters for my main stove and an Esbit folding stove as backup.
I want a wood burning one but still deciding which model to get.

Re: Bicycling?

I have a Dirt Jump bike and a Triathlon bike. Got the wife a Trek XC MTB. I actually find her bike very comfy and easy to ride, especially since I got her a wider and cushioned seat with it's own suspension. She does more road biking and than trail. Based on my experience, even an entry level XC fro...

Re: My Job, My Hell...

I used to work in a restaurant as a line chef. One of my duties is in charge of adding finishing touches and plating the food before it gets served. The plating station logistically is nearest the door going out to the dining area so that the servers can just pick up and serve the dish after plating...

Re: Bushbox stove - a simple review

I saw that tiny stove in one of the gun stores here.
Was wondering how they perform with wood. Would be nice in a BOB.
Kinda pricey though.

Hoping to see updates from you so I can gauge whether to bite the bullet on this one.

Re: Mantis's New 24 Hour Ration Packs

Nice bit of kit there. The calorie count kicks ass for the size. Competing with the Aussie Hunger Buster ration at a fraction of the cost. It would be great to add a small can of V8 or similar veggie juice. I just checked one recently purchased in my pantry and the expiration is 2015, so maybe not....

When camping, I have a canister stove with piezo ignition. Cooks fast and clean.
Backup to that is an Esbit stove.
Coleman 2 person stainless steel cookset.

Same setup in my BOB.

E&E, just the Esbit and a stainless steel cup.
