Interesting.
Dean Devlin is also responsible for the TV series The Librarians, which I really like.

Haven't had a nice upscale EOTW flick in a while.

Sounds a bit like Dean Cain's Post Impact.

Re: "Ditching" your BOB or any other bag and why.

Been a while, olaf_yahoo. I pick weather hazard. Being a near equatorial sea level tropical country, typhoons and floods are the top concern. I have a main family BOB in a rolling suitcase. Personal BOB (whibdh also has a n E&E kit). EDC. GHB in the car. I'm in a deep urban setting so human aggresso...

Clearing out old and stagnant stuff.
Repurposing old but useful items.
Finding uses for redundant gear. - Put some old camping gear into bugout bags.

Re: Newborn babies and prepping

When we just had 1 kid, a convertible backpack/duffel bag suffice as her BOB. Since having a baby recently again, I had to add more stuff. It wasn't that realistic to add another backpack especially since I'll be shouldering mttch of the weight. What I did was make a baby centric main BOB in a light...

Re: Looking for a pocket spotlight

I use a Klarus XT11 Upgrade in my EDC bag. Under $100. Uses a piston and spring for the battery contacts to handle recoil if you will weapon mount it. I got it because it can access strobe from off or any mode due to its dual tailcap switch. Can use 123s or 18650. There are other models with built-i...

Ruger LC380.
Less snappy due to larger frame which is built for a 9mm.

This is why I have a travel EDC which is plane and destination legal besides my local EDC.
I'm in different countries a few times a month. US, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, etc. Australia every few months. Was just in Sydney 2 weeks ago.

Re: Carrying OC spray?

I have a pepper spray device that came with a Velcro attached strap for securing it in the users hand. I have used that strap to attach the OC to the interior handle of my vehicle so it is at the ready if someone approaches me while I'm in a driving or parked situation. What form of OC? Triggering ...

Thanks Woods Walker. Is the ferro rod a better choice than the old flint and magnesium bar? I currently have a lighter, waterproof matches, 2 small candles, UST brand fire starter (can't remember which model), cotton balls with vaseline, Light My Fire cubes, ferro rod buckle used with a paracord bra...

I personally like the 92fs.

No experience with them, hut maybe a Bersa Thunder 380?
or if uou may still consider a polymer gun but not much recoil, a Ruger LC380.
It's technically a 9mm size pistol but uses the .380 round so it's easier on the hands.

I have something similar since I have to check in my BOB since I go through airport security constantly and stay in different countries weekly. I have a flight legal carryon that's in a small Pacsafe messenger bag that has anti-theft features so it's ideal for travel. That bag can go into my BOB whe...

Re: What presents for 13 year old prepper?

I second the rock climbing. How about some airsoft or paintball war games? Scenarios are nice too depending on the environment. Save the hostage type in an urban setting was always fun. When I started playing, I've had a newfound and deeper respect for those in the military, police, swat, etc.. They...

Columbia (which makes outdoor gear) has some diaper bags available. I assume it's more durable than ghe regular diaper bags.
Jeep has some too.
I saw them in Toys R Us/Babies R Us

Hi WW. At 1.5 lumens, is the red flasher more of a marker or can it be used to signal? Since the bottom is magnetic and tnere's USB charging and it runs 123s, I would keep 1 in my glove compartment for emergencies. Stick to the side of the car when changing tires. Stick to the top of the car if lost...

How's the material? Do you think it will hold up?
How water resistant is it? I usually use a waterproofing spray even on things that are already labelled resistant.

Re: The Really Big One - PNW Earthquake

I wonder what preparations people living in the inundation zone with no chance of escape could make (other than "just move")? Doing a quick search on Amazon it looks like a person could buy a life jacket and a helmet for under $50. A person might be able to attach a water bottle and some marine sig...
