Yeah, the MD side has better trails from what I recall. I haven't been out to either side in over a decade, though.

In addition to Grainger, linked above, you can, and should, check McMaster-Carr. They will also ship, and quite quickly, and you can find precisely the thing you are looking for there, without even knowing it existed!

Enjoy, and good luck!

Re: Others in SE Va?

From my observation, Ch 6 is only operating in the Southern Valley area. I recall seeing posts from one or two members attending stuff up in the NoVA area, but that's all. Having said that, yeah, it does seem like there should be quite a few folks down in your area on both sides of the bridge. My gu...

Re: Being able to live off the land

I don't think the prices are outrageous. Sure, they are more than I'm willing to pay, but I think for the amount of time and material being covered that these prices are reasonable. For example: the weekend course is 50 hours (2p Fri - 4p Sun) for $200. I know people that have paid that much just to...

According to my research, about 5.7 pounds of CNG is equal to a gallon of gas. Propane is about equal in run time to gasoline by volume.

Re: I'm Going Solar in the Suburbs. No Power Utility

Another option is something like <url=http://ussolargy.com/>US Solargy</url>, where they'll install and maintain a system on your property and sell you the electricity just like your local utility. I'm curious to know if anyone has any experience with something like this.

Re: First test of National Alert System

There, that's out of my system, does anyone think this is in response to 9/11 or 9/11 type threats? Personally, I think it would have been a good thing to have this type of system in place on 9/11. From the above linked entry on the EAS: During the September 11 attacks in 2001, "... the EAS was not...

I, uhm, not to be a dick, but what makes you think that the critter in question would wear the respirator? I foresee lots of leaping and clawing and yelling, dog or cat. This is why you start training them before there's an emergency, just like the rest of our preparations. How else do you think yo...

Re: Low Cost LED Bulb Plus 12 volt Power Pack=Multiday Light

A couple of notes from a sometimes lighting guy: The lamp life you see published for light bulbs is the Median Life. That means half of all lamps fail before that point and half fail after it. It's not an average. This drives many of us in the lighting biz batshit. With Phillips buying ColorKinetics...

Dad and I took it a step further than walkies... we splurged and got a set of GPS/Radio units. As long as they're within ~5mi transmission range we can not only talk to each other but also send exact location updates to each other or set a rendezvous point without saying a word. Got a link? Doc, Thanks for the link! Any chance you could upload them to Scribd , as well? It's possible some of these would fail their copyright verification, but anything that doesn't would be awesome. Why Scribd over 4shared? Scribd has a better/faster/easier download process, the ability to easily read it ...
