Re: What have you bought in the last 48 hours?(firearms rela

Just picked up my new CCW weapon, a H&K P30 LEM v2 in .40 S&W http://i846.photobucket.com/albums/ab21/equuleus1/IMG_1159.jpg I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet, but that is scheduled for Monday. After my wife found out that you could change the side panels to smaller ones, she kinda ...

I think there is also a legal issue behind the practice of topping off your mags in LE departments. If you get into a shooting you don't want anyone saying that you had the ability to carry 16 rounds but you say you only had 15 rounds and they can make it look like you didn't have control over where...

Long-term Contact Lense Storage

I think the problem with soft contacts are the fluid they are kept in. If you can find some way to make sure they are not damaged they should last a long time. This could be placing them in a hard plastic box and vacuum sealing them should keep out moisture and air and make them friction proof. Ever...

Re: BCS Tactical Shotgun Shell Chest RIg

According to whitepages.com, the phone number they have listed on their website is an unlisted number located in Magna, UT. And I would have to second suhsjake's comment about the website not listing an address, and after finding out that this is an unlisted phone number leads me to to think that th...

Re: Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm 4 1/4"

I've never tried the M&P9, but I've had a M&P40 for about three years now and the only problem I've ever had with it is the 165 gr ammo. For whatever reason it doesn't like it. Once I switched to 180 gr it worked every time.

Fishing Kit, Survival Review

I think these mini fishing kits give people a sense of false hope. I hardly believe that a few hooks and line in these kits will provide enough fish to feed you for a day. I have yet to hear of a case where someone used one of these kits to both catch, and eat a fish without any other tools or assi...

Re: Why solar/crank radios for BOB?

It sounds like this will work well for people who already have a solar charging setup, but in my case I have a two-way radio that will get all of the NOAA/Emergency stations so I don't have a need for something like that. I always try to find gear that has multiple uses. If you are just looking for ...

Re: Holy crap, Bass Pro Shop Outdoor World cherry pop

Have to agree with you that Bass Pro is great. The only thing that's keeping me from blowing all of my money there is that the closest one in like two hours away. I also have to agree that the store is a little over priced, but if you've never been in a Cabela's or Bass Pro, its just a great place t...

Re: Anybody ever vacuum seal toilet paper to crush it down?

I saw a post about someone doing that in a BOB thread and it looked like it saved a lot of space. IIRC, they unrolled everything, folded it into squares, and then vacuum sealed it. Looked like a lot of work for a whole package, but if you just wanted wanted it for a camping trip then it should work....

Thanks for the link! Updated my list. I found this a few weeks ago and it sounds like what you are looking for. It's just a drop line, but according to the website it will set the hook and reel in the fish for you (again this is not legal in all areas). I don't have any first hand knowledge of this ...

I was just looking at that the other day. Re: House Key Mod

Looking at it again, I just wish there was a way to mark the keys. At first I was planning on using a metal stamp to put an initial on each key, but it doesn't look like there will be enough room. I guess I could always put the letters on the side of the multi-tool itself... Anyone have any suggesti...

Re: ATCustom family's GHB (large photos)

I like the kit, but I had a few questions. I saw that you had a Ti cook set but no food to cook it in. Was this an oversight or were you only planning on melting/boiling water/snow in it. Also, you mentioned that you were making this kit to have in your car during the winter, and wanted to ask about...

Whatever you do, just keep in mind that if you are in this looking for training, some places give you next to nothing. Every state is different in what they require. In South Carolina, for example, for an armed position the state requires a minimum of eight hours of training, only four of which are ...
