Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

So Its going to be a 16" middy CHF upper group, but I'm having trouble deciding between government profile or thin...pro cons to both? Weight vs stiffness. that's my thing, its my bug out shft rifle, so I'm all for weight savings, but at the same time, I want it to be able to last a long time with ...

I saw a free float tube recently that advertises having "heat sinks" that draw heat away from the barrel (and into the tube)... I was asking my self... why would anyone want to roast their hands on that thing? http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2013/09/12/strike-industries-ar-mega-fins-key-mod-handg...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Because railed forends are no longer, 'the cool guy choice' there are plenty of good used ones on the market. No doubt you can snag a DD FSP rail for far less than MSRP. Don't worry, DD FSP rails were the top of the line in regards to desirability only back as far as 2011 :awesome: I'll add to this...

Re: Firearms Chat: Stipple that, home edition

I keep 8 mags of 75gr 223 PRVI BTHP loaded up, along with some M193 for my 1:9 AR, 60gr 5.56 A-Max, and 208gr 300blk Hornady A-Max.

Mix and match depending on what I want to shoot.

Edit: Anyone ever seen a side-by-side test betwween Hornady 75gr TAP and PRVI 75gr BTHP?

It now falls down to risk/reward. If he's in the same room, I can see him clearly as well. It's now who's faster, better aim, and endurance. I'd already have grabbed my gun before the light, and be prepared for target identification/engagement. I think he'd be even more shocked that he'd be met wit...

Re: What do you grab?

I don't like to keep all of my guns loaded at once, no real reason to. I keep my m&p shield loaded, because it's what I cc, therefore it's also my bedside gun. I do have a flashlight near, but wont grab it unless my lights aren't working( that must mean a highly organized team has cut my power line...

How's the "Solidness" of mounting on KeyMod rails? I know it's the bevel of the key that provides the mounting ability... Right? So, am I just being paranoid in thinking that's not a very solid mounting method? Once you slide the accessory into the notches, you tighten them down from the outside wi...

You'll probably have to call them directly. The last I read there was quite a wait on them as well. Oh, and they're super expensive.

Re: Practice: 22lr Dedicated Upper or M&P 15-22?

I have a 1522 and love it. It is lighter and you have to remember proper shooting because of it, but that's not a big deal to me I guess. I dropped an ALG trigger in it. It's a hoot to shoot and I enjoy it. I've never tried a conversion/dedicated upper. You can change the rail on a 1522, but it's k...

Re: The CHODE (Close HOme DEfense) SBR/Pistol Upper

Would rather run a 6.5" 300blk barrel and not rely on a 223 round at all. Been thinking of doing a build that's just it. I really like that NEA stock, though. Gotta agree about the stock, but I think I'd do a .40 or .45 instead. I think the NEA stock requires a custom BCG. I'm not sure if it's comp...

Whatever is closest. I leave my shotgun out because it's easily replaceable, but I'd prefer an AR15 to anything else.

AR > Shotgun > Pistol.

That's all.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I'd just spend a little extra time with modular rail sections on a Troy or similar tube. I'd rather just spend a few extra minutes changing around the rails than having to deal with a huge clunky 4-rail tube that I didn't want or need. Presently, I'm still in love with the Samson Evolution series ra...

I'm not sure why anyone would run a 4-rail tube anymore, with all the modular options out there.
