Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Can anyone give me a QC on "Core 15" ARs? Where do they fall as far as ranking with BCM, PSA, etc? I have a friend who offered to sell me a (seemingly) really nice rifle for $800, which is about the budget I had for a build anyway. He said he bought the rifle for $1100, and has since loaded on the ...

Re: My BOB

The dye turned out great. Completely changes the impression the pack gives. I like that you included snacks-- things to eat in between meals are glaringly absent in a lot of bobs. I would second what was said above-- another water container would be useful. I'm a fan of hydration bladders if you don...

Re: Dentures... The good, the bad, the ugly

My teeth didn't develop right and have been gradually cracking, crumbling, and breaking for my whole life. Recently it hadn't been so gradual. Without insurance, implants aren't really an option right now. His much did your dentures cost you when all was done? I'll need a full set, sadly, and have n...

Re: Negligent Discharge

Are there any s/a pistols that don't require pulling the trigger when field stripping? If not, I really should design one. I bet I could make some money off that design. I nearly had a ND once when field stripping my gun to clean it. I realize this isn't quite what happened to you, but I am curious...

Negligent Discharge

I'm posting this, despite my own shame and embarrassment, to serve as an example and a learning experience for those around me. By the nature of being a ZS member, you're probably already educated on firearm safety, but this is a demonstration on how it can happen to ANYONE with just a moment's inat...

Re: Stupid Little Things That Hurt Like Hell

Jamming a finger. Or worse, dislocating it, but that's a little more serious. Jammed my finger trying to catch a softball once. Slammed right into the tip of my thumb. It hurts like hell and stays sore, swollen, and tender for weeks if it's jammed bad enough. Shit sucks. Cracking your elbow on the e...

Re: I Saw ZS On The History Channel

We had a screening of this here at ZS:001 when it aired. It was pretty awesome! I think the screening itself was filmed too, it was just a big party at a bar with tactical gear. :)

CHAPTER 19 The first rays of the sun had just touched the dewy grass when a light patter of rain began to fall. It was getting cooler outside, indication of the coming winter months. The temperature and rainfall was enough to warrant use of cold weather gear; it was bothersome because the temperatu...

Re: Fired a Warning Shot, Police Called.

I have to agree with much of what I've seen here... Location and geography doesn't change the safety rules. Be sure of your target and what's behind it, always. I think you're pretty lucky that you weren't charged with something. Firing a weapon at anything other than someone who is about to kill yo...

Sudden changes IRL made it very difficult for me to dedicate any real time to my writing Have baseball bat, will travel. And/or babysit. Or mow lawns. Or whatever, as long as it doesn't involve a pizza shop and results in MOAR. Babysitting with a baseball bat? That's one way to get the kids to slee...

I'm not that easy to get rid of! I'm like the herp. You might not see me for a while and you think I'm gone for good, but I'll flare up again after a while, and you'll realize nothing can cure you of me and the only way to be truly rid of me is suicide. :D

Not to worry, folks-- I'm still alive, and so is the story. Sudden changes IRL made it very difficult for me to dedicate any real time to my writing, but the dust is settling and I'm finding more and more time to type away. Look forward to a new chapter in the near future! And thanks for the support!

Re: Dealing with a knife threat

I've been on the wrong end if a knife before too. I have the scars to prove it. I'm very lucky I came out as well as I did. It was during my time in IL so I had no ccw at the time. The first time, I had no idea what was happening until I got cut. It was a random attack and the was very little reacti...

An offshoot thread was started about something I said and I didn't notice for two pages. Unfortunately if someone wants to stab you as badly as the guy in the OP's vid, you're getting stabbed. Obviously you need to know how to stop a threat without a weapon, especially when you're carrying-- r...

Hard to say one way or the other at the moment. We'll see what happens with work. I hope I can go!

I have a BOB/Car Bag that I built entirely at Walmart for pretty cheap. The link is in my signature. It covers all the bases (some better than others) without costing half a grand.
