Re: STUFF SACK/DRY SACK

I don't use too many, mostly old rubberized milsurp, but I am a Recreation Major and many in my department swear by these bags by Sea to Summit. One side can vent out the air, but keep out the water. There are wireless alarms that can connect to a MURS radio, handheld or base station.

Good points by the throat. I am a recreation major, so I had to take Backpacking, but ours is an entry level class for anyone interested, the hardcore stuff is saved for our more advanced classes. Find out who teaches it and ask questions if you have any doubts.

Re: What long arm and handgun are you using to bug out?

Right now the only pistol I have is my S&W M&P 40c, so that's a given. For long gun it is a toss up between my 10/22 or my Springfield M1903, because that is all I have at the moment. Saving for a semi auto "Assault Weapon"

Re: Awkard moments or negative responses while using your ED

I was in a class the other day which involved a lot of getting up, bending over and other assorted moving around. At one point one of my classmates, an Army vet, tapped me on the shoulder and said, "You're not concealed." All the moving around moved my shirt enough to show of my CCW. At least it wa...

Re: Is Your Significant Other On-Board?

My wife is on board with the food, fuel, even me getting some more ammo when I pointed out that without it a gun is an expensive club. The trick is that we have to budget it, if I forget to include it in that month's budget I can't buy it. She is now getting interested in some herbal medicine.

Re: Looking for REI Tent Recommendations

It's a bit late but I also love my Half Dome 2. My wife and I fit fine, and I am 6'2" and 200 lbs. The rainfly has plenty of room for gear storage and it won an award from Backpacker Magazine too. Combine with REI gear policy and it rocks. Had mine about 3 years. They also make a Half Dome 2+ that i...

Re: Tips For College Students

Carry a spare way to charge your cell phone, a few pieces of candy (for you or a diabetic friend), pocket first aid kit, know how long it will take you to walk home if you live off campus (2 hours). If it matters to you, there are many campuses that do allow CCW (like mine), most are out west. Move ...

Householdhacker did a video on how to make a fridge that makes things much cooler than the outside temp. I don't know if it would be enough but check it out.

If I can't afford the real deal, then I will make do with some wally world. I usually save up for quality though.

Re: Awkard moments or negative responses while using your ED

I was at work when I needed to cut some rope off of some old line dividers. I whip out my trusty spyderco and begin to cut. My coworker looks at me, "You can't have a weapon here!" (I work at a school, and in my state CCW is legal in schools) I reply, "It's not a weapon, it's a tool." "But you can k...

Replaced the busted dead bolt in front door and used real screws that reach the frame instead of the POS things that barely reach the frame.
