Re: Talk me out of it

*I guess I also am just repeating what I've heard. Hopefully I was clear enough in my original post that I was just repeating things and that some of what was being said was just talk, and that I wasn't stating things as absolute fact. In my defense, he asked to be talked out of an 870, so I passed...

Re: S&W 617 experience/advice?

Hi all. At this point in my life, I'm kind of over the autoloading wonder 9. I don't see a reason, personally, to own more than 2, mu XD mod 2 and an XDS. I've been shooting a ton of 38/357 and been buying revolvers mostly. I've become enamored of the low cost and high volume shooting that reloadin...

Re: The Suburban Shotgun: Is it really needed?

Going on a further tangent, I know plenty of people who live way out in the sticks so far from other people that they could theoretically start firing wildly in every direction and the chances of them accidentally hitting a human are pretty close to zero. I wonder if for people in those situations ...

Such is the problem with unregulated grey and black markets.

When I was growing up, the after-school specials were about huffing paint and glue. Same same.

Re: .357 Magnum, the all in one round?

BLR is great rifle but god forbid if you drop it into mud, it is almost impossible to clean it. What makes it so hard to clean? Are there lots of fiddly little parts that go everywhere when you take it apart? I've tended to shy away from lever-actions because of their reputation of being complicate...

Re: SKS vs Marlin 330cs

http://www.saami.org/pubresources/cc_drawings/rifle/7_62x39.pdf SAAMI for 7.62x39mm is .311 inch diameter bullet. Yeah, I know what it is supposed to be. In an international context, I would assume it is correct. In the US, based on the measurements I have done, I would not assume any 7.62x39 in th...

Any clue where the hell I can find in detail material lists for cans? Working on getting a pinned-can 9mm non-SBR project running, but the gunsmith recommended strongly non aluminum endcaps. Working my way down my list for 9mm cans that fit my budget and specs, and god dammit, everyone says what th...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

This is not correct. Stripped lowers should be transferred as a receiver in the bound book and 4473, in accordance with how ATF taxed their manufacture. You do not choose what it is transferred as. At that point, you could theoretically build it into a pistol, and then temporarily build it into a r...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Watching this video. At 2:34 he says, if I understand him correctly, that I can buy any AR receiver, classify it on the transfer as "other," and use that receiver to build a pistol, rifle, and maybe later dissemble it and turn it into something else in the future as long as it is not an NFA item. D...

Re: .357 Magnum, the all in one round?

I remember being surprised when someone laid out the numbers on .357 for me, but it was never convincing enough to make me invest in the caliber. It just seemed anything I would be conceivably be doing with a .357 I would rather do with a 10mm or a .300blk or some such. strictly speaking, if one wh...

Re: Fallout 4......

I discovered yesterday that there is a limit to what can be built in a settlement when playing on a console (PC might be different), even if you have the materials to build with. I hit that limit in Sanctuary, so now I need to decide whether to scrap and rearrange walls and structures or focus on b...

Re: .357 Magnum, the all in one round?

Homebrew .38s are cheap as all get out, and lever actions rifles and revolvers tend to be insensitive to ammo. Proper sizing is more important. For hunting, the big downside to the .357 Leverrevolution loads has been OAL restrictions limiting charge. If you make your own, consider single-loading the...

I was listening to an older episode of a podcast I am "catching up on" and the topic was bitcoins (episode was from Apr. 2015). Re: Breakthroughs in battery technology on the way?

One caveat: 5-10 years is a funding cycle, so everything is always 5-10 years away. It's good to see investment into better battery tech. There's a couple companies trying to get permission for new nuke plants too, to replace some of the coal plants.

Maybe a little kydex cover that slips over the trigger guard? That's a thought, I have learned just today that these guns have an incredibly heavy trigger pull. I would venture to guess that it functions in the same way a Glock safety trigger works, therein one must have a lot of intent to actually...

I would say while most of WW1 was static the first few months were anything but .I think this period is what the game designers are focusing on. buying selling and importing are all offences as-well as taking one out in public, this is the normal way they ban weapons here in case anyone owns one before the ban. The German way is a bit different. They don't ban stun guns altogether, but they limit the power. The models that are still legal a...
