Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

Trying to talk my mom into a .300 BO SBR with a shortie can. Ya know, as an HD gun. That's actually what my BO SBR is gonna be for. You already know the reasons for an AR in general so specifically for BO, and the can: Reasons: Drastically reduced muzzle flash Drastically reduced ear pain and heari...

Re: School me on an ATLATL

Some States are now adding AtlAtl seasons to their deer harvesting programs. Missouri just recently started calling it out specifically as an allowed weapon for their primitive weapon season, or whatever they're officially calling the season formerly known as 'blackpowder season' that has since come...

Re: What are some good upgrades for my Glock 19?

On topic:

OP: If you don't do it already, and you carry your pistol for defense, a great upgrade for your Glock is to keep a round chambered, in addition to the full and inserted magazine, and the trigger guard covered. It's safe, even in a Glock with it's 3 safeties.

Re: What are some good upgrades for my Glock 19?

I don't understand what a clipdraw does that a regular holster won't. You still reach down, get a full grip on the gun, draw, and present it. From concealment, you clear the garment first, regardless of the type of holster. Except you're /adding/ a step in having to rack the slide. How does that red...

Re: The Trading Post Feedback Thread

Anybody heard from Wyominglostandfound lately? Made an order a couple weeks ago, and not a peep from them... Took the money, but no order confirmation and no response via email is making me a bit nervous... Not saying I am damaged, just no news is bad news... It's deer season in much of the country...

Re: Gun Show Background check question

FWIW, or for anyone reading in the future.. You don't /have/ to use your DL on a 4473. The ATF will accept multiple other forms of ID, so long as it meets their requirements, so if your DL is out of date, it's possible you can use something else. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/brady-law.html#proper...

Re: Ruger 10/22 breakdown?

Nieman, I think you know a lot more than myself about metals and such, but my feeling is that the bolt couldn't deform the barrel. I would think the heat of 500+ rounds at a time would be the issue. I shoot a brick at a time. If bolt strikes did this, wouldn't the weapon eventually go out of batter...

HK 416, 10.5 ..... geissele SSF trigger Yep, I could buy a fair few BCM carbines with the money from selling that gem. That's seriously a good pick by me too. I think I'd replace the buttstock for something that doesn't have roller bearings, and something lighter - and less of a boot-sole tex...

Re: Ruger 10/22 breakdown?

If it was heated, it's possible that they tried to locally harden the barrel to prevent the mushrooming or flaring of the barrel from repeated bolt impact. I have never done any stainless steel hardening - usually if something was required to be pretty hard, I've used an appropriate stainless alloy ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

If you have some crazy idea that you won't be able to build the rifles in the future, that you can build today, my advice is to buy barrels and lowers. Barrels have that evil "threaded muzzle" feature, and the lower will hopefully hedge your bets as your lowers will be "pre ban" if there's ever any ...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

That's a mock dissy, I take it?

If it actually is a dissipator style upper, I'm curious to hear how it goes. From what I read, 300BLK was not meant to run from anything but pistol or carbine length gas. Carbine being used only for 14.5"/16" barrels, and pistol length gas for SBR barrels.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I've been using the lithium on all my guns for a while now. Mostly just like it because it stays put if I don't shoot for 3 wks or more with the rifle on end in the safe. Stays ready to shoot for the range without me having to think about it. It can get a little gunky, a little goes a long way. Hel...

I know 'em as French Mullberries, but yea. Given their abundance and edibility, I'm trying to plan to use them as a supplement for food. Re: .22LR Magpul FPG using a Marlin 60

I thought magpul said they would never produce this because it would never be legal without a stamp or something. Did they change their minds? its not a real FMG9 its an airsoft stock where im going to gut out the internals to make a Marlin 60 .22LR fit inside. So you are taking a rifle receiver......

Re: Poison syringe arrow - now 300% more deadly!

Someone told me that these arrows could get me in trouble in the US. Is that true? Here there is no problem, as long as you don't use it outside of the legal boundaries. Self defense, defending others and so on. Like most weapon laws it's going to be up to each individual state. I don't of any offh...

Yea, I have a Model 60 at home, I was just curious if you were going to modify that since the FMG is not exactly a carbine.

So is it going to be nonfolding, and a long barrel/tube, or folding, but with a long barrel/tube?

How is one a prepper if all one is prepared for is what one thinks most likely to happen, It means that the prepper decided to use reason and logic and prepare for the likely before the absurdly unlikely. It doesn't matter if you make the firearm from a raw forging of metal you dug out of the earth yourself of if you just cut half the barrel off of an existing rifle, you are manufacturing a new firearm, and for a non-licensed person it requires an application to manufacture an NFA item: There is no r...

Re: All purpose NFA questions thread

QTF: Didn't know there was a difference in the stamp/paperwork on an AOW if you did it yourself. So you can pay $200 and have the weapon in your posession waiting for the stamp, or take to FFL and pay $5 tax stamp and approx $25 transfer, and wait 3-4 months while FFL holds the weapon. Or can you s...
