Weaver was a pretty experienced guy before he went challenging the status quo.

Re: RDS and BUIS: To Sandwich? To Co-witness? (PIC HEAVY)

And by that you mean being open to new ideas, and wanting to see testing of ideas before accepting or rejecting them as viable alternatives? Yeah, we're coo-coo for coco puffs alright  It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. No I think we me...

Re: Revolver versus Pistol

It's stupid to tell someone to buy a Corvette because one day they might get into high speed driving. Or a pickup truck because one day they might want to move or haul a bunch of firewood. Or a crotch rocket because even though they have their learner permit one day they may want to race. Who was d...

Re: Revolver versus Pistol

So when your grandpa put that gun between his mattress.. /that day/ would anyone know what the future held? You're look at the past through the 20/20 vision of hind sight, is my point. and NOWHERE in my post did I say they have to spend $XXX on a gun before it's "Good enough" - I didn't even argue a...

Re: Revolver versus Pistol

"Any gun is better than no gun" is not an excuse to give someone a Mosin Nagant for home defense because it's $85 Neither is it an excuse to give them a single shot. If someone came to me for advice on something to defend their /life/ with, I'd give them the serious info, what I did, how I got where...

Re: Revolver versus Pistol

I have a large amount of disdain for the thought of giving someone an inferior tool because they think they can see into the future and expect the person will never use it. Just as you can't predict when you'll need to use that defensive weapon, you can't predict human behavior any better. Very surp...

Re: AR Lower Threading

What tap/dye is used to put the gas tube threading on an AR lower. (I know this is worded horrendously, but you get the idea.) Thanks. Assuming you mean the receiver extension or buffer tube (since the gas tube isn't threaded into anything at all, let alone the lower) The pattern for the receiver e...

Re: Considering no secondary: why shouldn't I?

I do believe that most operating operators sport the popped collar while not on operations. We need gatfacts to expand to operator gear... Anyways, yea, I made sure that during carbine classes, I wear a polo. I even got the padded Viking Tactics sling, which I regret for the bulk added, but I'm pro...

Re: RDS and BUIS: To Sandwich? To Co-witness? (PIC HEAVY)

Cheaper than Troy, look at MATech and ARMS. Still good gear, can be found much cheaper, especially used. Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2 What about the Daniel Defense rear fixed sight? I was probably going to get one for a PSA midlength, unless someone talks me out of it. Sorry, are we talk...

I'm no first responder but my first observations are 1) The people who would carry this are people who (in my areas I've lived in) already wear pants with multiple pockets and loops for storing the tools in the Raptor. They are also used to carrying packs around where these tools are often on the ou...

Re: Uptick in Fire Arm Purchases

That's still amazing. Over 150,000 call-ins for 4473s. Assuming the vast majority are passes, and accounting for those with multiple guns on a form, I'd say 150,000 guns is a good minimum.

That's a LOT. That's awesome.

Re: Pulling the Trigger: have you ever bugged out?

Couple hurricanes have made me do so, yes. I've also had to do so for tornados, which was more of a 'get home' situation, kind of a reverse bugout, when the conditions revealed the potential, and we knew the storm system was headed our way. Flash floods have prompted what could be called a bugout be...

Re: Uptick in Fire Arm Purchases

Ammo, absolutely. Guns, not especially. All the stores are full, and supplies are refilling them quickly in this area. Ammo, though, I've had more than one supplier backorder me because they sold way more than they expected, and some even delayed my ship date until as far as February. This is mainly...
