Re: Grey Ghost Gear Full Size Pack - lots of pics!

Adjustability is limited to the shoulder straps and waist belt, just the standard adjustments, no torso or padding adjustments. The waist belt is sewn to the pack so it is not removable, nor replaceable. I just got mine in. Could you explain how to adjust the shoulder straps? I'm 6'3", and I feel l...

Re: Grey Ghost Gear Full Size Pack - lots of pics!

I just tried to add to cart and go to checkout screen and it did the same thing to me.. so its not just your computer. Maybe shoot them an email and let them know something is screwy with their order page? They used to have their phone number on the site, but its not there anymore. I had good luck ...

Re: Grey Ghost Gear Full Size Pack - lots of pics!

Tried to buy one today, but I keep getting an error when checking out. "Package 1 - Weight is missing or invalid." And I can't find a phone # for these guys. They do seem to be selling because the number in stock counter keeps dropping. I tried with Firefox, IE, and Chrome. Anyone have any idea why ...

Re: Grey Ghost Gear Full Size Pack - lots of pics!

Nice! I've been waiting on this post. I may pick one up. Does it have a frame of any kind? I too, would be interested in the weight. The TT version weighs 6.5 pounds, btw.

Re: Bag with load lifter straps

Cool. Looking forward to it. I got my Diamondback tactical in today. It's pretty fricking bomb proof, but it weighs a ton. Thinking of trying that Grey Ghost next if you can give me the lowdown on it.

Re: Bag with load lifter straps

I just picked one of these up (still waiting for it to arrive) from Grey Ghost Gear on sale for a $100. Its manufactured by Tactical Tailor and seems to be the brother to their Extended Range Operator Pack, but in 500D vs 1000D Cordura. I plan on doing a review once it shows up if you are intereste...

Re: Bag with load lifter straps

Yeah, I'd definitely be interested in a review. Looks like a great pack, but it might be a little larger than I need. Anyone have any experience with that Diamondback pack above? I'm really interested in it. My biggest fear is that, fully loaded, it would stick out 4 feet behind me. I hate packs lik...

I'm also looking at one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Diamondback-Tac ... 4ab8fc574b" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Would anyone recommend this pack?

Thanks.

Re: Bag with load lifter straps

Yeah, as much as I like Kifaru, that's a bit more than I want to spend. Looking for something like the Rush 72 or Kelty Raven (minus the radio holder). maybe the Kelty Map (again, no load lifter straps). I've looked at the Kelty Redwing, anyone have any suggestions of other similar packs that meet m...

Bag with load lifter straps

I'm in the market for a new pack. I'd like one of the 72 hour bags, but most don't come with load lifter straps, which I think are absolutely required on anything above a pack for school. Can anyone recommend something around 2800 cubes or so?

Thanks.

Re: Lightweight sleeping bag?

My Blackbird has a pad sleeve. I slip my Z rest in there, so no need for a bag with one too. I've looked at the BA bags, they are all heavier than what I'm looking for. Thinking of getting a Montbell SS #3 and giving it a whirl. I've heard they are great, but tend to leak down faster than other bags.

Down quilts aren't available on Amazon, and I sleep in a hammock, so don't need a BA matress.

Actually, the Nitro is 1lb 13 oz in the long. http://www.amazon.com/Sierra-Designs-Degree-Ultralight-Sleeping/dp/B004KQHC3I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351645255&sr=8-1&keywords=nitro+sleeping+bag" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; $239 for that one. Too bad it doesn't come in a men's size.

I'm not really trying to stay under $130. I juat want to make use of the Amazon credit. Anything around $230 or so is doable.

Lightweight sleeping bag?

Can anyone recommend me a lightweight 30 degree sleeping bag? I'm looking for something in a long, under 2 pounds, and it must be available on Amazon. I just purchased the Sierra Designs Nitro, and it absolutely rocks. Warm as apple pie :-), light as a feather, but sadly, too narrow across the chest...

How does this pack compare to the Fieldline Glenwood Canyon: http://www.fieldline.com/Products/glenw ... ame-pack/7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Other than the molle webbing.

Anyone with any experience with both?

[ Matches get wet too, or did you forget that. Most matches are not water proof. All my matches work fine when wet. Or, to be more precise, they never get wet, due to proper waterproofing. You can get waterproof matches at Wal-Mart. I'm not saying don't carry a lighter, I'm saying a few matches is ...

Re: Why matches?

I live in the Pac NW and have had no issue with using lighters in long relentless rain. You also seem to have missed the part where none1 mentioned it is easy enough to keep a lighter dry in a ziplock bag or other such safe dry place. There are many ways to secure and keep a lighter dry if you are ...

Re: Why matches?

/devil's advocate on ..... I see a lot of preps involve matches, storm matches, matches in waterproof cases, etc. etc.. 1) lighters light more fires than matches do, and stay dry and ready to use in zip lock baggies. 2) fire steel lasts longer, and, IMO, with practice, is as easy to start tinder as...
