Re: Slide release vs overhand rack WITH A HUGE SLIDE RELEASE

When I first had to Qual with the M9 #hatethatpistol I started using my support hand to release the slid stop as it re-wrapped around my firing hand after inserting the new mag. It meant I wasn't shifting the grip of my firing hand, and felt fast. I still do this a lot on my G35's and other guns. I ...

Re: Winter is coming

As a garbage man, I work outside rain or shine. Last year, we had 1 workday cancelled for extreme cold, -40F and then some. I consider workplace prepping very important because of this. We worked a lot of cold days, and my truck broke down on a few. I was lucky enough not to be in any actual danger,...

Re: When you first move in...

Does your house have a street address that is VERY visible from the road? I've sat listening for extended periods of time as EMT crews searched our rural area for an address, in one case wherein the victim was turning blue and you could hear the 911 caller screaming over the dispatcher's radio. Cou...

Re: Can't decide on bug out weapons. Help?

Using your metaphors, some people DON'T put on their ponchos in the rain. But your further point is staring the elephant MIGHT change minds. My point was it MIGHT not. I don't have a clue which is more likely. :?: :?: :?: I very often don't put on my poncho in the rain. Rain often cools me much bet...

Re: Can't decide on bug out weapons. Help?

Step 2 is figuring out whether to standardize on a platform or diversify. That decision probably needs to take into account whether she will be willing/able to be a team mate in a firefight (as some of the posts suggest), or if she simply is not capable. If she will not shoot another human being, u...

Re: Can't decide on bug out weapons. Help?

People keep buying all kinds of crazy mixes of guns, then ask "What's a good loadout?" Answer: A good loadout for 2+ people hinges on commonality . Invest in a system . Everyone has the same mags and ammo, everyone knows how to work each other's weapons and gear. Systemic gear goes further than just...

Re: Help me identify this armor

Plate doesn't look visibly broken, so it's better than no armor. You could try selling it, not sure if gun auction sites do armor. We've shot up a pile of plates that had been around the block with the army, and they stopped rifle rounds enough that I have 2 sets in my armor carriers for emergencies...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Tell ya what, as a special favor to you guys, I'll try to grab one or two per paycheck, to help speed along the arrival of the Gen 2s. They'll suit me just fine, as I don't own an AK, and will likely sell real nice during the next panic. ;) That's almost the kind of investment I had encouraged othe...

Re: Peak Saigas; It's Happening

High risk for very little reward. Some distributors caught felonies and prison time for intentionally circumventing the Chinese import ban. Might as well try to bring in heroin; same risk for a higher profit margin. Exactly. Smuggling is smuggling. If the GG's catch you, you lose everything and spe...

Re: Peak Saigas; It's Happening

Unless they source their barrels and parts from another manufacturer, I would guess not.

I think it said "ALL products of..." As in "every damn thing they make."

I'm hoping some US sources begin production soon, and without too much 'Americanization.'

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

I considered getting some AK Pmags soon, but I may just wait until MagPul releases the metal reinforced version. By the way, anyone got an ETA on when those are supposed to hit shelves ? I'd guess those will be available a few months after they sell all the sucky 1st gen mags. So, never , as no one...

Re: Specific Baby Prep Items

Lots of good stuff here. I'll stress practice/training. Every time you walk out the door, assume you won't be able to come back. The more you realistically practice that, the better set you'll be when you really can't. The baby will be more comfortable, too. Mama does the same things each time, Mama...

Re: How many magazines is enough?

I was just getting out when the AWB was (or was not ) set to twilight. Since I had zero intel on the matter, I thought it only sensible that 24 pre-ban rifle mags follow me home... I look at mags as investments, to a degree, as the market fluctuates from time to time. Buy low, sell high. Buy more th...

I, too, am really glad you got this blaster rockin'!

I love the H und K look, but every thread I read about them reminds me that I just don't have time for gats that need tweaking to run.

Thanks for reminding me how muck my boring SGL's mean to me!

Enjoy that sexy beast!

Jor-el is right, I dig the 'old school' .30-cal gats.

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

I've read that the extractors on M1A's are so harsh on brass it's only safe to reload them once. Is it the same for 308 saigas? Doubt it. AK extractors are huge, it shouldn't hurt anything. I've wanted a .308 VEPR for a while, and my bros used Saigas for anti-pirate ship security, good rifles. Mags...

Re: What duty-type handgun to buy?

I would diversify Glocks rather than add more makes. Even adding conversion barrels and mags so you can use a wider variety of ammo in the Glocks you have would make more sense from a survival standpoint. My G35's will get 9mm and .357 barrels pretty soon. More than likely threaded for cans. Adaptab...
