Re: Agis Hoplite Pack Testers Wanted

I will say someone put a lot of thought into this pack and it really shows. Included in the box was the black Hoplite and a matching rain fly which normally comes as an additional accessory. I agree, this thing is really cool, and loaded with features. Like, cool enough that Nicco likes to ride in ...

Re: 140 million Americans Affected by Deep Freeze

So who's the dumb shit that gets to work outside in this? Oh, yeah... Me. Look at Door County, WI on a map. It's the thin thumb right between the bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan. All the vacationing Illinoisans left when November came, and I wish I could have, too. I'm stuck doing residential tra...

Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

Yeah, I would just shim that up. Soda cans are great for that.

AK's being what they are, tolerances vary. The idea is, a gun that keeps firing is Job #1, so less critical dimensions are, well, less critical. You want it tighter, shimstock is plentiful.

Re: Concealed Carry-ish DIY BOV Firearm Storage

I, too, suggest just getting your CCW. It resolves soooo many stupid, complex issues.

SRS, what you're asking is silly in its complexity.

However, if you can legally keep it 'cased & unloaded' or in a locked, separated space in your vehicle, that could work, too.

Re: Importance of a sling on a rifle

Dave's 100% right: The VCAS has a good slide adjustment mechanism, but it's made out of industrial trucking cargo webbing. You could use that shit to debride wounds, and it will absolutely grind the skin off your collar/neck after a day of using it with a t-shirt. The VTAC, by comparison, is made o...

The 7.62x39 version takes AK mags, right?

Re: FYI: New Firearms Coming to the U.S. Market

Hoping the Galil does use standard Galil mags, as those can be converted easily for my Valmet!

Glad IMI is stepping up to fill the void left by Saiga. I foresee buying several.

I'm certain they will sell piles of mags!

Re: New-to-me Valmet Hunter in .308

Also, in addition to liking the look of the wood, I don't think these take standard AK furniture. Angle cut receiver. You MIGHT be able to move the FCG like a Saiga and use an angle cut Ironwood stock, but I wouldn't bother. I'm hoping to make it full-plastic, move the FCG up, just generally AK-lik...

New-to-me Valmet Hunter(Petra) in .308 - Just bought this off my FiL, going to pick it up @ the FFL as soon as I can. Re: The All Purpose AK Thread

I was thinking more along the lines of weighing the need for a fighting rifle against the cost of a fighting rifle. I think, cost/benefit-wise, a good-quality AK is a great value. It does more jobs than just fighting, it doesn't require lots of maintenance, it's quite durable. Everything the .30-30...

Sentinel Events

I linked this article in the AK thread, but I think the idea merits discussion in it's own thread, because, as the author points out, some people are involved because they don't want to die, but without someone else to raise their level of awareness for them, stagnate. http://ballisticradio.com/2014...

I think it speeds up reloads once you recognize the sensation of your bolt locking back, just like an AR, though the AR also sounds different. Hoping to buy a house soon,, and hoping that will facilitate enough trigger time to learn to recognize that sensation. 30-30 vs AK? I was trying to explain t...
