Re: PAW vices?

My quote was in response to a previous post that in PAW no one would trade for such luxuries.
Yeah, I need to improve my critical reading skills... >.<

Re: PAW vices?

Centuries have proven gold to be the ultimate barter standard I won't dispute this, but the worth of gold is only there if essentials are already provided for. What else were in those chests you imagine in pirate ships (or whatever) besides gold? Spices, salt, tobacco and alcohol, these would be ex...

Re: Surviving on vacation during a disaster

And I never drank the water. Did you have any ice in your mixed drinks/soda or wash your hands in a public restroom or maybe a salad with lettuce (washed) in it? There's plenty of ways to consume their water besides from a glass. As for the OP. KC, dunno if you have any capacity for the language, b...

Re: Jobs that have high pay now and would also succeed in ZPAW?

my question focuses on jobs that are financially comfortable in both worlds Not trying to stifle your discussion, but this is kind of meaningless. For one: "financially comfortable", especially today, is completely subjective criteria; depending on an areas cost of living and an individuals lifesty...

Probably only in rare individual cases does this meet your 100K criteria, but entertainers would be very valuable in any PAW scenario as well.

Singers, instrumentalists and the like. Even -or perhaps especially- in PAW, people want to be entertained, right?

Re: Jobs that have high pay now and would also succeed in ZPAW?

As touched on by others, most of the skill sets that would be invaluable in the PAW, are even just hobbies in modern society (carpentry, blacksmithing, tailoring/leatherworking/cobbling, gunsmithing, botany, hunting/fishing, HAM radio operator, etc.). But when SHTF these are the people who would run...

Re: How many of you actually?

For all the nay-sayers out there, a little food for thought. Cordyceps unilateralis - the Zombie-Ant Fungus http://www.livescience.com/animals/090812-ant-fungus.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CCOQ0VU24xw Certainly this is a far cry from brain-hungry, aggro-dead. But the natural world is capable...

Message from the High Ground

Hello all! So yea, I've been lurking around here for about a year, registered on the forums about half a year ago and am finally starting to post. I've been wary of the zombie apocalypse for some time but only recently (about 6 mos. ago) really started doing any sort of prepping, and even that is li...

Re: 7.3 Earthquake in Haiti

Talk about SHTF scenarios. This is what we are all here at ZS for. I don't think you can find a better analog of what will happen to the state of society and human need in a worst case scenario. Not that there is any bright side to this tragedy, but at least it doesn't seem like there's anything to ...
