Re: Thoughts on converting an old school bus

I doubt it would be all that fast... but you should be able to push most of the other cars off the road with a good enough cow catcher. I have always suspected that full armor plating would add too much weight to a bus... but I also always thought it would be cool to make the understorage into a bun...

Re: So you're at a barbeque.........

Is this one of those jokes about you kneeling down to tie your shoelaces, and your friends are all like "What are you doing that for, you can't outrun them!" and you respond "I don't have to, I just have to outrun you!"

Re: 12G shotgun ammo

I have heard that the Maverick uses the same barrel as the 500, so you can easily get a shortie barrel if you want one. The larger the shot size, the more it will go thru. So for home defense, a lot of people recommend #4 Buck as it won't go thru as many walls as 00, but still packs a real good wall...

Re: "You see this? This is my boomstick!"

After I filed my taxes I started window shopping, waiting for the return. I saw the Stogers at a local sporting goods store and thought they were the most awesomest gun ever. I really wanted one, but then practicality won out. I ended up getting a Mossberg 590 Persuader as my first gun ever. Pump ac...

that was an intertesting article.... i also think that emergency/survival preperation is getting much more popular.... 20k in a few months is a lot of $$$... i still don't understand why he would give his name and where he lives.. if the SHTF folks are going to be busting his door down... also, why...

Re: Home First Aid Kit Advice

Take a trip down to Mexico and pick up some of the OTC stuff there that you can't get here. Nothing OTC would work on my back pain and the doctors were reluctant to give me anything. My parents picked up a bottle of ASA something or other in Canada and it worked really good. I added dehydration salt...

Re: Mil Surp Shoot - going to the Pit on May 30th, afternoon

I was pretty shocked when I arrived yesterday. Unaware of a cleanup, I just went to fire some rounds through the boom stick. It looked a lot better than normal. I know it still has a long ways to go, so if you guys want to schedule another cleanup let me know in advance so I can try to get the time ...

Re: ZSC-005 Roll Call (Pics and Bios Only - No Comments)

Hi, I met some of the guys at the Olympia pit while I was just out shooting some rounds through my boom stick. They told me I should check out this site, so here I am. I recognize the one as Fred by the pics, I think the other may have been Gonzo. Thanks for finding some foamies for me, I still can'...

Just in the scenario... in real life I don't have a yard, let alone a rose bush. As long as the place doesn't burn down, I WILL have supplies that won't be found by scavengers 8)

I quickly dig up the cache under the rose bush and high tail it to "Plan B", or maybe even "Plan C" if need be.

Re: 5 Years into the PAW...Places people might not have looted

A lot of people would think that warehouse stores would be the first to be raided, but they may be worth a second look. People like to take the easy way out, and a pallet up in the steel would be too much work for a lot of people. After 5 years I would be concentrating more on the F's. Foraging. Far...

Re: HOAs/neighborhood associations in times of crisis

I live in an apartment... so I have to go by their rules just like a HOA. In a time of emergency, I don't feel I could trust them one bit. I am cautious of letting anyone in the complex know of my supplies, both food and non-food, for fear that if the SHTF, I would be quickly raided. Gray man.... If...

Re: Whats a good CB radio for the car?

I have a cobra in my BOV with about a 4' whip. Looks just like a radio antenna, but I have no radio  For my DD, I have an old "Realistic" (Radio Shack) emergency CB radio. It is like holding War and Peace up to you when you have to talk, but it does the job. Runs off of the cigarette lighter an...

That is what I was thinking... that is why I would have bars on about half of the upper story windows. The rest, and all downstairs windows, would be roll-downs. I wouldn't want to be laying in a bathtub hugging my dog all night hiding from the zombies.

Re: Salmon lasts a long time, doesn't it?

Compared to some other canned items, that is pretty long storage life. They also have to err on the safe side, so it could still be good 5 years later, who knows? If SHTF and I found some out of date stuff, I would try it..

Re: OUchhhh I think I got bit by something.

I am allergic to bug bites. Even the lowly misquito can make my arm swell up pretty bad.... but I have never had the red lines running. If I did, I guess then I would be scared. Maybe you are just allergic like me? Sometimes it takes over a week for the swelling to go down. The only time I have gone...

Hi! I was out at the gravel pit shooting my zombie killer today where I met a member or two of this forum who told me I should check it out, so here I am. I hope they found their way back off the mountain  After losing a lot of belongings in a fire I realized how close to disaster we all ar...
