Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

So I'll be placing my order for a Romanian Tokarev in the coming week and now I'm already planning on getting rid of the goofy import safety. My problem is deleting the safety will leave two holes in the frame, but I figure any competent gunsmith could fix that issue since I don't feel comfortable ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

So, change of plans. Instead of buying the upper for my AR, I'm going with picking up a Romanian TTC Tokarev pistol. I've been considering getting one for awhile and I figure for a little less than what I'd pay for the upper, I could get a full gun instead of half of one. The upper will still be pur...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Rick, I just checked my buffer weight and it's marked with an "H".

So I'm going to assume it's not a carbine weight buffer. Looks like I ought to be good to go with a mid-length upper.

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Can you run a mid-length upper on a lower with a carbine weight buffer ? A carbine weight buffer shouldn't be a problem. Neat. I guess if I have to, I can always pick up a different weight buffer. Usually you'd want to run the heaviest buffer that will still cycle reliably (and lock the BCG back on...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Quick question on AR gas system lengths. Can you run a mid-length upper on a lower with a carbine weight buffer ? I ask because I'm looking at uppers on PSA and almost all the ones I'm finding within my budget are mid-length systems. There's a couple carbine length ones, but they're all minus the BC...

The rest of the rifle looks interesting, but it looks like someone stuck an oil filter on the end of the barrel and called it good.

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

I've not had the chance to handle the 7.62x51 ACE, just the 7.62x39 one. It was heavy, but not too bad. The M14 clone the shop had next to it weighed more and I think that was mostly because it had a wood stock. The .308 Galil Ace with 16" barrel has an advertised dry weight of 8.7 pounds. The M1A ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

I'll probably have to hit the range a few times to see how far I feel comfortable taking a shot before I actually go hunting. If I ever do go hunting, actually. Still, knowing my comfort zone when it comes to making a shot is a good thing to know. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure just how far ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

When a dremel is the solution, nothing else will substitute. Did some gun smithing and loving my Magpul furniture. Cut the front sling mount off an AK and mounted the handguard without the sling mount cut-out. Naturally. The rifle feels lighter and handier, but I think that is because I can get my ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

SO I assume based on your response you like the 22/45 configuration better than the Mark IV Standard? Can you tell me why? I would assume the original MarkIV configuration would be tougher - less parts too. Can you have a suppressor in WA state? I had a Mk3 22/45 Lite, and I still have an old stain...

Re: Throwback Topic: What's your top 3 z-pac firearms?

I was screwed on the handgun side of things in 2010 because all I owned at that point was a Nagant revolver. :gonk: It would be another two years before I bought a better handgun. So I guess my 2010 load out would've just been this. (2010 load out) Rifle: Yugo Model 59/66 SKS Shotgun: Mossberg bullp...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

That's maybe functional (I just don't know, haven't use any of the items on that carbine), but...damn, that's ugly. I tried a Zhukov on one of my AK's. I liked the idea of a longer handguard, but ended-up not liking the extra weight. It has a full length aluminum block that attaches to the barrel, ...

Did your mag tube extension come with a longer spring? When I bought a Nordic tube extension for my one 1100, it came with a longer spring. I also bought Nordic's mag tube to barrel clamp(s) and picatinny rail sections. EDIT: I did have the gunshop counter guy show me how many dummy rounds he could...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

Fudge all that noise. I used a drill press to get rid of the mag tube detents. I lived in an apartment at the time, so I didn't have access to a drill press. I ended up using a Dremel and a couple files to knock out the nubs. I might try a different follower in my tube to see if maybe it's ...

Re: Firearms Chat: Yeet Cannon 2 Electric Boogaloo

I thought I would never write or utter these words: "I bought an 870." Because I have a Mossberg 590, and the shell lifter on a 590 stays up. You have to fight the shell lifter on an 870 because it stays down....in the way while trying to insert new shells into the mag tube. But it is a tactical mo...

Re: Firearms Wall of Shame

The first time I took my Mosin out to the range in 2008, I managed to cut my left thumbnail right down the middle on the cartridge interruptor and bleed a little.

I think that was the first time since WW2 that my rifle had drawn blood.
