Re: Firearms CHAT: [insert chat title here]

If Ruger were to bring back the Deerfield (or Deer Slayer or whatever it was called), I'd buy one. I've only seen one example in a shop out here and it was nice. Kind of beat up, but in otherwise good shape. Must've been a truck gun for some old rancher. I thought about buying it, but I was more int...

Re: Coin shortage?

On the subject of electronic currency, I'm reminded that my grandma way back in the 1960s accurately predicted the rise of credit cards. Grandma also had a prediction about folks being forced to have a special card just to be able to buy food and other necessities. Her thinking was no card = no food...

Re: The New & Improved, "What have you done to your AR today" thread

Installed the new bolt latch. I rather like this one from Strike Industries. Nice, wide, serrated pad for setting the catch to hold the bolt open, vs that tiny little point on the stock latch. I also replaced the firing pin retainer with a Perma Pin from KNS Precision last week and forgot to mentio...

Man, I wish they still made the 96/44. Used prices on them are silly.
Give Ruger a couple years and they'll bring out a new version like they did with the PC carbine.

Didn't Ruger used to make a semi-auto .44 mag carbine ? The Deerfield I think is what it was called.

I'd like to learn more about how the Vikings fought since I've been watching a lot of the "Vikings" TV series on History Channel. I'm pretty sure they're taking some liberties with the fighting on the show, but it still looks neat and I'm a big fan of Viking history. Also, I've been interested in h...

I present to you the ultimate in manual cutting systems: the Kukrax . Do you like the cutting power and utility of kukris? The simplicity of purpose of an ax? Just put the two in a room, add a bit of bow-chicka-wow-wow, and you end up with this beaut: https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/wp-content/...

Where's Wee Drop O'Bush when you need her ?

This thread sounds like something that'd be in her wheelhouse and maybe she could give us a bit of info on what others in her AO use as alternatives to dogs for herding livestock.

Well, I am now the owner of a shiny new Ruger Mk IV 22/45 Tactical pistol. So far I've found out a couple things about it. 1. Mk. III mags do not fit the Mk. IV (probably because they're from a 22/45 LITE and not a standard 22/45. Not sure what the difference is.) 2. Sights designed for the 2...

Just bought another 870. Doesn't come with a barrel, but came with a knoxx folder. I tell myself I'm going to tune it and sell it again ... But the more I think about a short barrel with some sexy wood ... The less likely I am to sell it. If all goes well tomorrow, I should be coming home with a ne...

Yeah, I think one of the Geissele or Spikes Tactical safeties with the short lever on the right side might be better for you, NT2C. I had been looking at the AR Stoner safeties at Midway, but seeing your issue has me thinking otherwise. Looks like I'm going Geissele again. Which is ok since they wer...

The ambi safety I'm kinda on the fence about. I'm right-handed and so is my wife, but we do have southpaw friends and it is nice to be able to see the status of the safety easily no matter which side is up when it's on the shooting bench. Unfortunately, in the fire position it rubs on my trigger fi...

Ah, Botach. Placed an order on May 31st for items that showed in stock on the website. Didn't hear anything after a couple weeks so I checked on my order and it said the items were due in to their warehouse on July 1. Check today and it just states "Backorder". Here I thought those issues were behi...

I foresee little to no police intervention over masks. Seems like they'd have bigger issues to deal with, right ? I think mask enforcement will probably be contextual. Not wearing a mask at the gas station? Probably not. You're not going to be that close to anyone, and even aside from COVID people ...

This was a couple weeks ago, but I swapped the grip on my AR from a Magpul K2 grip to a standard MOE grip. I found the MOE grip fit my hand better than the K2 grip did. The K2 grip was only purchased because it was the only one I liked that the Academy store in Lubbock had in stock at the time. It w...

Johnson County KS-July 6th 2020 We are now under a mask order as the the responsibility for orders fell to the counties themselves. It is unclear as to whom is responsible for enforcement. It has come down to place to place as to whether or not we need to where a mask. It's surreal at this point. E...

Re: "Daily COVID-19 SITREP In Your Area"

Back when I lived in SE Texas (I left there around September of 2006), I actually looked forward to winter because it gave a bit of a reprieve from the constant heat and humidity. The heat, surprisingly enough, wasn't the worst part. It was the humidity that sucked big time. The humidity still suck...
