if anyone could lay out the hierarchy Marketing. Fire millions of rounds and you can gain a larger market. Otherwise, you are like everyone else. One stoppage might get attention online but it means nothing to the guy/gal whose rifle has not had a mis.... While that's valid, an off brand manufactur...

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I'm curious if anyone could lay out the hierarchy of AR parts manufacturers? I suspect I see over representation of lower quality brands, who choose to supply the Canadian market, while top tier manufacturers don't bother jumping through as many ITAR hoops because they are happy with the much larger...

Down Jackets/Vests

Mid layer down has become a trendy fashion in the past couple of years. Does it stand up to real world use outside of urban centres? I've always stayed away from down/synthetic shells for outdoors purposes, because the odds are if I'm in the woods, I will likely be near a fire at some point, and an ...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

So I just got the Warrior/Emerald lever action in the mail today. Very pleased initially. Despite a rather rough action, I think it has potential. It's actually very closely based off an 870, which I'm very happy about, because that's the shotgun platform I'm most invested in already. Pictured here ...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

FTFY. Thanks. Is that "Warrior" shotgun the same as the Adler lever shotgun that the Australians get ? They look pretty similar and given that both are Turkish guns, it wouldn't surprise me if they were the exact same gun just with different names for different markets. Looks a little different fro...

Re: Firearms Chat 5: #pewpewlife

There's a pretty sweet looking turkish, 12", 12 guage, lever action up for sale near me at a reasonable price ($300 shipped). Talk me out of it? I just bought a $1500 suit for my wedding in September and I know I shouldn't, but these things didn't last long when the Canadian distributor brought them...

Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

That's pretty good halfapint. A lot of guys talk down about reloading for 9mm and .223, because of the availability of cheap/surplus ammo. But your recipe sounds like a sweet spot.

Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

Rifle ammo definitely costs more to reload, but compared to obscure caliber, match grade ammunition, the savings are there. I can reload .38 for a third of the price of factory, and I doubt I spent $500 to start between a turret press, dies, tumbler and media. I can make 100 rounds in an hour, that'...

Re: Press therapy - reloading room *chat*

What's everyone using for a scale these days? I need something new, my cheap Hornady scale doesn't tare properly anymore.

Prefer something small and battery powered, but a 110V wouldn't be the end of the world.

Who's using what?

Very happy to fly the ZS flag when I'm out. The forums aren't the lively network they once were, but I'm still proud to be a member of this organization.

Thank you so much KJ4V0V.

Re: Sub2k or AR for 9mm

I too own a gen1 S2K and vote against it. It's too small frame for people over 5'9". Ive heard of the receiver issues, apparently gen2 may be improved. It has awkward, though simple controls. The bolt/cocking handle is a long motion for new shooters. I modified mine to lock to the left, so I could l...

Re: If an AR is not an option ... Tavor?

While the AUG is "prohibited" class (like most bullpups), and thus, doesn't work for me, I did mostly intend to revive the conversation since it hasn't come up for a while, and I think Tavor being the only new player (in the USA, Tavor have been "non-restricted in Canada for as long as I've been sho...

Re: If an AR is not an option ... Tavor?

Would the Beretta ARX count? It's my dream carbine. I like it more than the SCAR and ACR or Bren. But if that's not allowed, I wouldn't be afraid of a VZ58 at all. Or an SKS. I love me some good SKS strippers I don't think I've seen an ARX around, and google fu isn't bringing anything in. For clari...

Re: If an AR is not an option ... Tavor?

I assume that no variations of the AR (& AK) are permissible in any form. I am also wondering if a Tavor would be permitted. Accordingly I would chose either a Ruger Mini -14 or a Mini-30. I have used the Mini-14 in the past and especially like the SS versions for use in a maritime environment. The...

If an AR is not an option ... Tavor?

Decided this was a topic worth bringing up again outside of chat. If someone lived in an AR15 were not a legal bug out rifle, like Canada or large portions of the American North East, what would be your second choice? I have owned a VZ58 for several years now, but it will just never have the efficie...

Re: Upgraded the bear defense.

Followed your lead and bought a can of bear spray. Spending a few weekends in bear country, at east one will be backcountry camping in a provincial park where firearms are not an option. Bass Pro didn't have the holster in stock, so I'll have to shop around or DIY.

Help Identify Shotgun/AR Stock Adapter

I bought this adapter years ago to put a collapsible stock on my 870. Don't remember the brand or where I bought it, but I remember paying too much for how much I liked the product. http://i777.photobucket.com/albums/yy51/BullOnParade/Guns/F4AA97C2-C6DD-4A19-9FB5-B9897D8BB2CB.jpg Aluminum constructi...

Re: Long gun options for bear defense

Thanks for the replies. Guess I could have given more details on the Bears. Black bear country, some distance from any sizeable town, and a good distance away from the nearest garbage dump (my friend says 30 minute drive, so estimated 40km). Garbage bears almost always stay at the garbage. Black bea...

Long gun options for bear defense

Re: Firearms Chat 4: #pewpewlife

On a Canadian gun forum a guy has a bunch of 870 pars up for sale, the prepper in me says do it, the realist in me says there's no room in your storage or budget for such things ... Sigh. If you as a prepper have decided on a firearm to be your go to gun, how much do you invest in spare parts? This ...
