Re: Hornady 300 Whisper 208gr

Finally got some of the new Hornady 300 Whisper ammo in and got out to the range with it today. This is the first factory ammo I have shot in this rifle, up to now it has been all handloads and I was eager to see how the 208 grain A-Max bullet would perform. http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z271/...

Re: New Bright Nickel Finish With Scratches?

Oh, I was polite with the dealer, but I was firm. The dealer agreed that it looked like the gun had been handled and slid about quite a bit before it arrived here. Clearly, it was in the store and a lot of people had handled it, not too smoothly either. On Monday or so, he'll have a replacement. I ...

Re: JR Carbine

What about .45 ACP? It's not the best for the sidearm but I know they used .45 ACP for carbines and smg's in WWII. That was before the 10mm AUTO was conceived. The only pistol-caliber carbine I'd want is one chambered in 10mm, which is the most powerful and versatile of the so-called "service cartr...

Re: New Bright Nickel Finish With Scratches?

Hello, I just bought a new Rock Island bright nickel 1911. I went to the store to pick it up once it arrived and I was surprised at the condition. The bright nickel had various light imperfections - small, light scratches, etc. The clerk said, "I can't expect the same thing out of a $500 plated gun...

Re: Colt Delta Elite?

They didn't "break," the frame cracked in a non-essential part of the frame. Colt cut that part out, and they work very well. If I were to get a new Delta Elite (I do want one) I'd swap out the current recoil spring for a 22# spring since I shoot heavier (real) 10mm loads out of my current stable. ...

Due to randon encounters with Polar Bears, the Danes issued the 10mm G20 to their SledgePatrol Sirius. They operates in Nothern Greenland up near the Artic Circle. Understand that their G20s are for unexpected defensive use, not hunting, and for when they don't have a .30cal rifle handy. Here's the ...

Re: 10mm Auto is MEAN

does anyone make a 10mm revolver? vie been thinking of a 10mm for my next pistol... Yes, as noted, S&W had done runs of their 610 wheelie over the years, and in different barrel lengths. 10mm fans seem to like the 4" model. This one is an original, first-run 610 ("no dash"), with 6.5" barrel and th...

Geez Steppenwolf, that Glock 20 is exactly what I had in mind for my next gun! Would you mind PMing me the specs and where you got the parts (Lone Wolf perhaps?)? Sorry I took this long to get back to you on your "specs" question. Actually my G20 is more "stock" than you might think. The barrel, sl...

Re: 10mm Auto is MEAN

What exactly is so great about 10mm that gives people such a hard-on for it? An extra two or three inches of penetration that you don't need? ask your wife what she'd pay for a couple extra inches of penetration 8-) you had to expect that, right? I think it's more about 'in case I run into a grizzl...

Can't go wrong with the 10mm Glock 20, especially if you tailor it just a bit to suit your needs ... http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo166/agtman/CIMG1413.jpg But the dynamics of the cartridge ain't for the shy-n-sensitive types ... http://i372.photobucket.com/albums/oo166/agtman/RSimmons....

Re: 10mm Auto is MEAN

*** *** All-in-all the "10mm is too expensive to shoot" is becoming a lame excuse with more cottage industries supplying the need. If you can afford to shoot .45, you can afford 10mm. Bingo ... :) Most 10mm-critics who parrot this "too-expensive" B.S. on the 'net ignore the price parity between .45...

Re: 9mm vs. .40 S&W

Some obsure type of ammunition should not be a factor in deciding on calibers or wepons. If you carry a 200 grain .40 you should shoot it or a comparable round when you practice. Why not? If it fills your niche, carry it. That round makes the .40 a pretty serious weapon against hardened targets lik...

Good luck on your degree. Again, not to hijack your thread, but until I severely restricted the "diet-half" of the body-fat equation, I wasn't losing that much and what pounds I did lose came off VERY slowly. Once the diet kicked in, and I was able to force myself to stay on it, two of which include...
