Re: Postman Scenerio - What Weapon Would You Take?

Same guns i'd feild with in any extened scenario, except MAYBE the handgun: FnFal 308, and glock 20 in 10mm, with a 40S+W conversion barrel..or i'd take my G-21 in 45, more common components. Cat sneeze loads for the 308. I have reloading gear for both. The 10mm gets the nod, as it can be to hand 24...

Re: fire

I carry a few birch bark strips in my wallet. There is nothing like having dry tinder on hand 24-7. Also, gather some twigs from the lower branches of a big pine or hemlock, they will be pretty dry in all but the very worst of weather. gather about 3-4X what you would in dry weather-this is what wil...

Re: New PERMANENT gun ban

The first AWB was just a trial, to see if Americans would accept it. To get us used to the idea. The next one will be permanent. I do not expect any really hard core gun control 'til his second term. The Democrats learned thier lesson on being too anti-gun, and a real assault on RTKBA will hurt his ...

Re: One weapon or any weapon?

+1 Trebor. I train with several guns, I want to be able to competently run/survive with any given weapon- firearm or not- that i could pick up or improvise. My carry guns are Glocks: my primary is a Glock 21, and i have two, i also carry a G-20, and will be swapping to that full time. Training equat...

Re: ZS thoughts on the 10MM

I was pleasantly surprised by the lack of harsh recoil. I'd describe it as 45+P recoil, but quicker. There is only a little more muzzle flip, enough so i notice a slight delay when doing rapid double taps. Granted, the 45 i shoot most is a g-21 i have owned for about 14 years, and i shoot it well. M...

Re: ZS thoughts on the 10MM

Jeepinbandrider, check out the Fortis project, its a resurected Bren ten-based off the CZ.

Aslo, with the Glock, i like the Arredondo floorplates that make a 45 mag hold 17 rounds...but the 10mm/4 holds a full 20 rounds. a total of 21 rounds of 10mm is nearly enought for any hostile crowd.

Re: ZS thoughts on the 10MM

Yes, the Corebon and DT loads bring the potential of the 10mm out to play, and as others have said, if i did not reload, i would not even consider it. Originally i went with the 45 over the 10 as ammo was available at M+P stores, was cheap, component brass was cheap or free for the picking, and i wa...

ZS thoughts on the 10MM

I currently EDC the G-21, as well as the G-20. I am a fan of the 10mm as its a powerful and flat shooting cartidge and gives someone armed with just a handgun some better capability. I like the capacity, range, accuracy, power, and ease of longer rage hits over the 45. The downside for me is I have ...

Re: Anyone considering building a "Safe Room"?

This is a good thread, USMC2PD is giving some great advice. I like the saferoom concept when its used as the master bedroom. Sleep with the door closed and you are all set. Kids do add a complication, but my boy is 3 and co-sleeps with us, so no kid roundup is needed. Heavy framing- 2X8 or 4X4, roug...

Hello from Maine.

I have lurked on this site off and on for over a year. I do frequent a couple other sites, one of which is survival oriented. As for an intro, A/M, former Marine, raised on a farm..spent some time in CA. Currently I work full time in corrections. That's all i'll share for now, sounds like talking my...
