Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Has anyone here had hands on experience with the IWI rifle yet ? I was considering a future purchase (once I get my gun fund back up to where it was earlier this year) of one, but wanted to know if anyone here had one or had used one yet. Only the auto ones. No expexperience with the semi-auto impo...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Found a G17RTF2 locally. That someone completely fucked up. Tried to stipple the frame (on an RTF frame!). Note the word "tried". Also attempted a mag release relief. And fucked up the slide. Wanted even more for it. World is boiling over with Gen 3 frames, and they experimented on a limited release...

Re: What's in your camera bag?

You can get a diffuser for an SB400 for $5 on Amazon. While I have an SB700, unless you're using all the additional features a Yongnuo speedlight will serve you well. Spending money where it makes sense to spend money is what I've mostly done. I do end up getting camera and lens envy though. I prefe...

Re: What's in your camera bag?

Interesting idea with tripod mounted flashlights. I use one of those bigassed LED panels meant for video (light is a little blue but I shoot in RAW so I don't worry about it). A bit large for travel though. Maybe a diffuser on the flashlight so you don't get any hotspot? One of the benefits of conti...

Re: What's in your camera bag?

Hmm, nothing crazy. A couple lenses. Battery grip (a must for long days and makes portrait shots easier). At least 2 ways to power equipment if possible (aforementioned battery grip, spare battery, charger, and lithium AA's (for speedlights and will also go in my grip if needed). I find a ring flash...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

I was at the LGS today. The owner went into the back and brought out a Colt 6920 box. What was inside kinda weirded me out. The owner said that Colt was in such bad shape financially it was selling or shipping out just AR chasis's. So what was in the box was missing its front handguards, a buttstoc...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

I should mention my best use for my Howards has been when mowing the lawn or whanging on things with metal. Turn on the noise cancelling and use a male-to-male audio jack to listen to Welcome to Nightvale . I use Peltors and ear buds for mowing the lawn. HL's never seem to get loud enough for me. T...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

I'll probably end up just buying more of those little foam ear plugs since they've worked for me this long. That and I'll end up researching different brands of electronic ear pro. Looks like a visit to Amazon is in my future. You can absolutely do better than Howard Leights, but you're going to pa...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

What is a "swovel option"? I have a set of moulded in non-electronic ear plugs, around here somewhere. The same lady who was pouring the moulds for the electronic ones (too rich for my blood at the time), also did my non-electronic ones. I think she was giving hearing tests to the guys ahead of me ...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

Over by me, the Amateur Trapshooting Association has the Grand. There are plenty of vendor booths. One lady does the pour in or moulded in electronic ear plugs. IIRC, they are about $800 per ear. But the Grand attracts a better heeled clientele. Here is a used shotgun for $8,900: http://i603.photob...

I'll see if they live up to that claim. Each earpiece is independent. The cable you see is just removable rubber so you don't lose them

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

I got a stiffy when I saw those pop up last week or whenever. My main question is how long is battery life? Rechargeable at that size has me thinking not so long. Also when the battery dies do they still provide hearing pro? (I imagine so) But yes, no more ear muff rising off my ear for cheek weld,...

I might have to re-join USPSA because there is some sorta deal between Remington and USPSA, you will get employee pricing which is supposedly good for up to 50% off. I haven't been to a real computer yet to check out the price list yet: http://www.uspsa.org/ROC.php Supposedly includes the Bushmaste...

Re: Firearms Chat 3: #pewpewlife

I don't really care for the handguard (people have actually been sticking MOE handguards on AKs for a bit now) but the buttstock seems pretty good from the limited experience I've had with it.

Re: AK rail

I've never seen a proper repeatability test with a TWS. After all of these years, there's probably a reason. If you want something closer to the eye than the Ultimak can provide, I suggest an optic-specific RS Regulate mount (assuming you have a side rail that's installed properly). well i can tell...
