It's unreasonable to expect that an unknown pathogen with similarities to a work of fiction would have the exact same lethality and effects as the fictional version. Even Ebola is only 70% fatal. I would just shelter in with everyone else, disinfect the bite wound, keep it bandaged, and wait to see ...

My father had a rather interesting idea for protection against marksmen. I live on a rather large farm in Louisiana, with 50 odd head of cattle and several horses that would prove attractive to robbers. His plan was to get a fellow with a scoped rifle in the attic facing the fields, in a chair again...
