Re: Need help with a bus shelter
This is the same plan they had at Waco? I'd suggest the whole thing is a bad idea. The bus will start to rust when you get is underground and become uninhabitable. But it would likely make a great BOV. Actually the more I read about it the more excited I'm getting about it. So far I've read about a...

Re: Need help with a bus shelter
on the plus side you could use the space the engine was in to hide some other type of gennie if you can cut an access hatch without destroying what little structural integrity the bus does have That's a little more work than I can handle, I don't have anything that could lift that thing out once I ...

Re: Need help with a bus shelter
I dont think that will be too much of a problem, it hasnt rained all year so far. I was going to extend the corrugated steel out far enough to hoefully prevent any water from seeping into my little hole in the ground, and I might even put in a little sump pump for any excess water problems in a bad ...

Need help with a bus shelter
I finally acquired some property of my own and want to put a underground shelter in. The seemingly easiest way to do this is to burry a bus. I was going to rivet or weld some sheet steel over all the windows, have a hole dug in the ground taller than the bus, empty out all the fluids and back the th...

I Leroy Jenkins the sonofabitch. Seriously. Hunker Down and Wait 'til he's distracted or reloading, or just shooting in a different direction, and try to overbear him (if there are like minded people to help, even better - pile on!) That's worked for a few mass shooters, like the guy in the Long Is...

A guy set my range on fire with them, burned a few hundred acres and almost burned down the gun shop at the range. Pretty sure you can own them but when would you use them?

Re: Sotol friction fire
How thick is the hand drill and base? Thicker is a bit better. When I first tried it I would get a little ember on the tip of the hand drill...it was a pain in the ass. I eventually found the right size, and found a pretty thinck base and got it going, it wasnt anything like the youtube video you're...

Re: Bushcraft Basics: Expedient Shelters.
Thanks for the vids. Me and the wife are taking our daughter out to build a shelter and a few field expedient snares (not to catch anything) this weekend. She's not old enough to learn much but she will have fun dragging around branches, and well get the updated practice of building a shelter for 3.

Re: When your ccw slows you down?
I didn't actually read squinty's post, my mistake. As he has already stated, it was worded badly and I understand why you reacted in the way you did. I'll just make one last mea culpa. It was a dickish post I made, at worst it blamed the victim, at best it was the equivalent of saying "just move." ...

I always go through my spare change and look for pre 64 stuff, whatever change my daughter finds she puts in her piggy bank. Other than that the only interesting thing about change is that I have 1K in Nickles for the whole Gresham's law thing.

Re: Water Resupply in the PAW; WWYD
I'd hit the well at night. Two hours walking everyday to the river (at least) with pounds upon pounds of water is allot of energy expended, especially when you eating plants, and the occasional deer steak and jerked deer meat. Everything in survival is a risk reward system, I would think the fairly ...

I've been reading that the 4's handle is a bit smaller than the 5. I have some huge manly mits, will this affect my handling of the smaller 4?
