Re: What Rifle Is Easy To Produce?

Long to medium range, easy to mass produce (releatively speaking of course), I would go with 98 Mauser. Not the best for combat but employed in a hit-n-run sniper type role its very effective. Fewer parts than any semi, very accurate.

Thats from an FAL fan!

Re: Magpul MBUS vs Magpul MBUS PTS?

OK I got the sights! Now I need some help in comparing these to the "full-flavor" Magpul MBUS. They seem to be very sturdy. The front sight is a square post AR front sight. The adjustment is done by removing a set screw (its in the same location that the detent post would be on standard AR irons) yo...

I like yankee screwdrivers, the "no power" cordless screwdriver.
If you get accustomed to using them you wont screw up whatever you're working on.
I also have push-drills for the house.

Re: Earthquake on the East Coast

They just said on the news that there is flooding in the Pentagon due to water pipes breaking. That could be part of the reason for concern. If I understood this right... NOT SURE, heard something on the news as I was walking into the room, NC Gov is declaring a SOE! If thats true then everyone's CC...

It rocked us pretty good! No damages or anything but this was way more than just a little thing we normally feel.
My wife is used to earthquakes, being a cali-girl, scared the shit out of her!

Re: Odd ball creatures being built. SKS/FAL Hybrids

weird...what are the legalities on that sort of thing? Depends. If a manufacturer/person makes it and gives it a serial number with batfe approval, it is completely legal. If not, then not legal at all. This violates rules of the board, so tread lightly here. A prohibited possessor of firearms can ...

Re: Odd ball creatures being built. SKS/FAL Hybrids

But........... but...... WHY!!!! Because it is not a firearm. The FAL lower is not the registered part. The AK "upper" is not the registered part. So with all of those mechanical objects pictured above, none are firearms (as in have a receiver). Do not want. Bullshit! Read the title its an SKS not ...

Re: EMP and the US Govt - C-Span

One major issue with emergency services is fuel. When the grid goes down the back up gennies kick on but most places only have enough fuel for about 24-48 hours. Paying for more will be difficult at best. With the grid down fuel pumps for vehicles are useless. Where my wife works (911 call center) t...

Re: Why do my 2.5 gallon water jugs keep leaking?

If you're buying 20oz size of bottled water then get the LeBleu brand. They are more expensive but the plastic is thicker and has the larger caps like on soft-drink bottles. They can be saved and refilled and then use the SODIS method for purifying. I currently dont have the room for 55gal drums (my...

Re: Aus.Templars Pocket Kit

Im going to suggest some different changes than those suggested. Instead of using the inner strands from paracord put a roll of dental floss in there. Its very strong and can be used for fishing line etc. Loose the paperclips, they are too weak for anything useful. Please explain uses if you think i...

Re: Someone is Going Through My Trash

Is the trash on the curb? If so, it's public domain and you have no reasonable right to privacy. If it's in the backyard or against the house it's a different story, however (I used to get paid to go through trash). As crazy as it sounds Dave is absolutely correct. If you spot someone doing this I ...

Re: Cleaning an SDS Hydramax bladder... QUESTIONS!

One more question, while searching the innernutz one site recommended microwaving it empty, for a few seconds at a time until it was too hot to touch, then let it cool. I was afraid that might result in a plastic ball with a capacity of 0oz, what do you think of that? Maybe instead of empty I should...

For my two cents, and I think it mirrors my thoughts on another similar thread... EMP or Solar Storm... Pretty cool, but it's 3 sticks...you could build a house from one stick, if it was big enough to be milled into a crapton of lumber... I pictured a guy sitting on a gamepath with a stick, then whacking a rabbit when it ran by... Jamie I thought the same thing! One stick trap = spear (one long point...

Cleaning an SDS Hydramax bladder... QUESTIONS!

I purchased what I think is a good deal, an SDS hydration pack that has a Hydramax bladder. I got it for $15, now heres the catch. The bladder is used. No stink, no smells of any kind. I want to be sure its clean so I went about disassembling for cleaning. I cant seem to remove the hose from the bla...
