Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

The British super spreader who infected a family in France has been released and is fine: A British family who contracted coronavirus at a French ski resort have been discharged from hospital, the French health minister, Olivier Véran, has said. The British nationals, including a nine-year-old child...

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

It has been a few days of below-peak daily infection rates (at least based on official numbers), which roughly correlates with 14 days (the claimed upper-bound of the incubation period) past the mass quarantines in China, and the subsequent public awareness/behavior changes everywhere. It looks lik...

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

I think the CDC is likely to massively drop the ball on this. The UK now has 8 cases - but they say As of 10 February, a total of 1,114 people have been tested, of which 1,106 were confirmed negative and 8 positive. Maybe this is a bit taboo but:
According to Chinese scientists, the Corona Virus attaches onto lung receptors that are five times more likely in Asian males:

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

I still go back to the PRC's reaction to an illness that they claim kills fewer people than influenza. Closing off a quarantining 80 million +/- people is not something done routinely for an influenza outbreak. Not sure this is fair. 2% mortality is the official line I see. Flu is something around ...

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

If you believe the notion those are the true numbers add the confirmed and predicted cases together and look at the death rate doesn't it come out to roughly 10%, that's what Spanish Flu levels high of mortality?

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

I'd like to request less video posting from unverified sources - this isn't a Mod request but a personal one. Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

I thought somewhere in these last ten pages of posts that one of the articles alleged a Wuhan hospital had run out of key testing kits. Does that sound familiar to anyone else or is my aging memory playing tricks on me? A quick google search showed numerous articles about running out of protective ...

Re: Wuhan Coronavirus Thread

https://jameslyonsweiler.com/2020/01/30/on-the-origins-of-the-2019-ncov-virus-wuhan-china/ I'm not sure on the validity of the claims as I don't profess to understand the science, but as we're posting bunch of things in here... Remarkable in that video the journo claimed there was no Ebola vaccine. Afaik there are two, one has been given to healthcare workers and former CDC director didn’t correct her.

These are the people that will pass and enforce any quarantine efforts. They are telegraphing their possible/future moves right now. [ i] Pay attention. [/i] From 2010? Re: Chinese Mystery Illness Prompts Hospital Lockdown

More worrisome is they think that only 5.1% of the number of cases have been reported. Not because of cover up but difficulty in detecting infection until the person becomes symptomatic. (15 days incubation from other sources) IMO that is a sensible statement. The PRC would not be going to this ext...

Re: Chinese Mystery Illness Prompts Hospital Lockdown

According to this https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/01/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/ as of an hour ago, total confirmed cases worldwide are 1320 and the number of deaths are 41. So here are a few musings of mine: - We can assume the confirmed cases in China/World are vastly under-reported - why? B...

Spring Snow Trip

RonnyRonin and I were excited to get out on a weekend in May. Of course May was very snow filled here so whilst we were planning an ultralight distance hike it turned into an ultralight snow slog with some extra shivering from the cold. BUT it was a good experience in the shoulder season. My pack wi...

I have a Shield RMS/C coming with an 8moa dot (large) that I picked up for a great deal on ebay.

It's going on a G19 slide to co-witness with my irons. Excited to move forward. At distance the RDS really does help.

Re: Yurtsgiving trip

This was a fun trip and a revealing one. I came in much later than Ronin - pulking in the dark wasn't so bad as the track was well laid. The uphill approach in places was quite brutal though https://i.imgur.com/VI2CMlcl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GhjBbTsl.jpg Going out I took the skis for a run https:/...
