Re: The Blackthorn Bottle - New Product
I saw a lid the other day, but I didn't look what threads it was for. Regardless, the lid contained a little hollow on top with its own little lid. Bout .5in x the lid diameter. Just big enough for about a 3 week supply of iodine tablets. It was sectioned off too like a medicine container so you cou...

Re: Does anyone use a safari/sportsmans style vest?
I wear a vest all the time. You just have to know the trick. When you wear it, carry a fishing pole...everywhere. Sure I get gawked at when I'm in line at the local grocery store or lion's den, but it certainly isn't because they're thinking of my carry gun. Little do they know... I alsohave a buttl...

Re: The Blackthorn Bottle - New Product
I like it. I've always wanted one just like that with one addition; a heat resistant way of holding the cap on that would allow me to hang the bottle over a fire istead of needing a metal platform to set it on or just setting the bottle next to the fire. Even two little spot wleded tabsor loops to a...

Yup, when in doubt, glock19. Even if after a while you perfect your grip, and you find the glock doesn't quite fit anymore...razor blade, sand paper, blow tortch (or pay someonemto do it) and make that sumbitch fit. Revolvers are not good for new shooters in the contemporary gun world. Lemme esplain...

Re: Hill People Gear Kit Bag Alternative?
I'm a huge hpg fan just because they don't have molle. Yeah a molle chest rig is pretty convenient and makes sense, but when holding a fishing pole and more often tha not a beer, I can't be, ya know, that guy. Hpg doesn't look as choadish. On a side note... You only need to learn once not to tie a k...

A glock19 with warren sights, a carry stipple job, TLR1, lots of time in my waist band, lots of rounds down the tube, and a handfull of top 5 over all local idpa scores.

Re: Do gas masks have a legitimate purpose in your preps?
Mine helps me breath and the filter is like 8 years old. Here's how in just 6 eady steps 1. Put on mask 2. Do 150 burpies for time in your living room that only has a single lawn chair for furniture. 3. Take mask off 4. Shower 5. Masterbate 6. Cry Never priced altitude trainers. A gas mask might be ...

Re: Kahr TP45 or CT45 VS 1911
Light weight isn't a good thing for shootability. The plastic rails on the frame turn me off of it for any real shoot-a lot gun. In my experience (cw9, pm9, pm40, cw380) of plastic kahrs, they aren't reliable. My cw9 was the only one I really trusted, and my cw380 hasn't been fully vetted yet. The P...

Re: Bear and feral pigs whilst running
Glock 29 weighs about 3 ounces more than a glock 19 or a 5.7 (23oz). I've done plenty of 8-10 milers with a 19 in a HPG rig (specifief by op as well) accompanied by knife, keys phone, light, I'd, cash. The extra 3oz of a glock 29 (10mm) over a 5.7 won't mean shit to run performance. Fuck, an extra l...

.35rem? I've taken a few deer with one when I was a kid. Prima facie, I'd trust it a little more than 30/30, but I'm also not up to speed on the ballistics of either.

No. 50 m with any snub regardless of trigger action is fine shooting. Those guns have charactoristics more detrimental to accuracy than a da trigger.

Re: Shrouded hammer J-frame opinions
J-frames are soft spot guns for me. I've owned 5 at one time, 6 in total, 7 if you count a bodyguard 38. Currently I have a BG38 and a 642 which my mom carries. (3x36s, 642, 60 pro series, 317 kit gun. 642 is my favorite) my 642 has probably between 2k and 2500 rnds through it. Its only gotten bette...

Re: heaviest blade YOU would carry on the trail/backpacking
Ill be honest here. A lot of the times ill artificially inflate the likelyhood of needing or finding a use for something for no other reason than I like it and want to use it. Really, the only things I take because of their potential to save my life is a pistol and a phone. Everything else is just w...

Re: heaviest blade YOU would carry on the trail/backpacking
Long distance no-bs-putting on miles. In 2008 I did 700 with a spyderco delica. Now that I have an izula its what I go for for almost everything. When I do get a chance to hit the AT again, and thru-hike it, I think ill take an izula or izula2. Just looking to do 10-15 miles to the campin spot or wh...

Re: NAA Mini Sidewinder
"Tactile memory" seems more like procedural memory. Like disassembling your glock is procedural memory, not muscle, despite the fact you do it with your hands. Reloading your glock at slide lock is for most of us is muscle memory despite the fact that our brain has to perceive the slide lock. There ...

Only fired the xds 45 and only once.
I have a shield and like it a lot. Its my main summer gun. One think I like about vs other single stack is the quazi stagger of the mag. Makes for quicker reloads. Never delt with springfield but s&w customer service is great.

Re: NAA Mini Sidewinder
Muscle vs brain memory is just semantics. When it was first brought up, the description given of "brain memory" was just what most generically refer to as muscle memory. If iwere to guess, I'd say the term muscle memory was just used to differentiate between the various types of memory that occure i...

Re: First Pistols, need advice 9mm and 22lr same ergonomics
I've had a few go-to guns with .22 analogues. S&W mod 60/mod 317, Glock 34/.22lr slide, 1911 in 9mm/buck mk (which isn't a bad .22 counterpart to a 1911). A .22 version of whatever isnt a deciding factor of me buying one pistol over another. In my experience (which given my load of .22s, and working...
