a way to make fire.
shelter- a cheap tarp, or even a poncho would do the trick.
some rope, or paracord.
a map.
water, and/or a means to procure, sanitize and carry water.
some kind of food. a few powerbars, even.

Re: strangest thing you have ever seen

Whilst watching the stars on a clear summer night several years ago, I spotted what I assumed to be a satellite traveling across the sky. Without slowing down it appeared to make a sharp 90 degree turn and keep on moving towards the horizon. I don't believe in UFO's and all that stuff, but I've nev...

Re: noob legal question on registering a reciever as a pistol.

One a rifle, always a rifle. You can make a rifle from a pistol but not a pistol from a rifle. well, that sucks. :( however, if I was feeling especially initiated; I guess I could take a butler creek folder, remove the shoulder stock, hack of a portion of the fore end, and install it on a Ruger cha...

that is a good idea. I may already have a spare rifle however, and a butler creek folding stock I'm only too happy to mutilate. all I would have to invest in is a shorter barrel.

noob legal question on registering a reciever as a pistol.

got it into my head while drooling over this post, but I didn't want to hi-jack that thread. so, this is pretty snazzy: http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/bb282/ryanwitherow/acf65ed9c25d5a4ced4d38f49d31db97a41.jpg without the folding stock, of course. is there anything stopping someone from taking a...

Re: Ruger 10/22 Accessories

I've been looking for a nice wooden stock but I can only find those black ones, where can I find some more wooden stock options? Is this a good shopping list: 5 10rd magazines and lots of ammo to start. Then a new stock and tech sights. Also can you explain what this does http://www.rimfiresports.c...

Re: Ruger 10/22 Accessories

You can get some peep sights for it from [urlhttp://www.tech-sights.com/]>>Tech Sights<<[/url]. Not only would you be getting a rear aperture similar to an AR's, but it would also lengthen your sight radius by 8 inches (<---- big plus right there.) I plan on getting these for my Saiga when they com...

Re: Ruger 10/22 Accessories

IMHO, stay away from the barrel shrouds and flash hiders. I haven't seen any that stay attached that well. a loose chuck of metal dangling precariously off the muzzle of your rifle is just asking for trouble, and the barrel shrouds are annoying when you'd like the give the gun a decent cleaning. mos...

Re: Anyone ever put truck bedliner on a gun?

IMHO....DON"T DO IT. I tried doing it my self. I followed the instructions to the T. It was one of the BIGGEST mistakes I ever did. This, ofcourse, is only my opinion. I'd go get a daisy red rider or some bb gun and try it first. Respectfully, Lenny **EDIT** I did on the gun its self..not the stock...

Whats wrong about standing out front watching the house burn down naked ? If your house does burn down I cant think of a better way to watch it. If the lady does not want an "Evil Black Rifle" in her home, I guess she should have some say in it? Especially since there are alternatives. This being the case though, I guess a Saiga is no good despite the price range. I would love an actual AR-15 but the wife says hell no, but its cool I guess ...

when i turn in, the clothes I take off go right on the floor next to the bed. footwear, socks, pants, underpants, shirt; if necessary, they can(and have) go right back on again, just in reverse order. that having been said, if someone breaks in, I'm not stopping to put ANYTHING on. I think it'd give...
