Re: Yellowstone earthquake swarm hits entire park

No, that's accurate. There have been much smaller eruptions in more recent history. The west thumb was formed 130,000 years ago, tgere was a lava flow around 70,000 years ago, and steam explosions much more recently. It's Caldera forming eruptions that are around every 700,000 years.

Wow that is some wildfire. However, evacuation is the only thing to do in the case of a wildfire. Yes, when presented with a wildfire, the only sane thing you can do is bug out. That said, this is a prepping site, so we'd be remiss to not mention the importance of maintaining a defensible zone arou...

It's not just flooding you have to worry about. If you live somewhere with a high water table, you suddenly have a buried boat, and the buoyancy forces can be very substantial. Enough to unbury your structure, or bow the floor in...

Massive is a bit of an overstatement...

Don't keep at it if you think you're going to be a risk to others. My father has Alzheimer's, and the day he turned around with a fully loaded px4, with his finger on the trigger and the barrel pointed right at my gut to tell me it wasn't working (which it was, just a long pull on that first shot) w...

President Trump has egged on a new arms race. He has? How? :? Suffice to say, the current president of the ...

Regarding fresh ground whole wheat flour, I've got one word for you: Sourdough I've been experimenting with whole wheat and whole rye breads lately (as in, 100% dark rye), and there's no contest. The long soak (24 hrs+) softens the bran, and the acidic environment leads to better gluten formation wh...

It's my understanding most airliners carry flexi-cuffs. Never did care to find out. Otherwise... I guess practice your rope skills? Could be fun with the right "practice" partner... I have my great grandfather's 38 and my grandfather's 1911 from Korea. Both are too personally valuable to me for any more than very light duty range use. Just a note of caution: the 123s are Lithium batteries (literally have a lithium metal anode), the 18350s are lithium ion batteries (have dwarven chemical magic in them). Cold eats up charge on a lithium ion like nobodies business. So, I guess sleep with it in your sleeping bag... Lithium batteries ...
