Re: GoLite's gone bankrupt ...

Damn! But...well, I got mine. Have large and small packs for myself, a small for the wife, and ponchos for us both. Great gear. There is an outlet near me (in Anthem, by Phoenix).

Re: Weapons For Supervillains

I like the idea of a solid-fuel flamethrower, with a sort of blunderbuss like barrel, that fires a sort of white phosphorpus canister shot. Wouldst thine shot burst on impact and ignite, or be ignited upon firing and the canister implosion be merely a side effect? Well, now that you ask, I think a ...

Re: the Defensive Shotgun; How we make it work--MilCopp Blog

A Mossberg 500 with ghost rings could be good. Are the sling mounts on the left side of the gun (assuming you're right handed)? That's where you want em. 6:00 sling mounts aren't ideal for a modern 2 point sling. Not a deal breaker as new mounts are easy. The things you want to watch with the 500 a...

Re: the Defensive Shotgun; How we make it work--MilCopp Blog

The nice thing about shotgun cards is that they fit in M4 mag pouches. Set up your chest rig like you're running an M4, and just put loaded shotgun cards in place of the M4 mags. Nice thing is, when you get an AR later, you can use the same rig. I am not sure if the cards work well in Tacos; those ...

Re: Shotguns - The most overrated weapon for zombies

Personally, I think a belt-fed shotgun would be great for certain zombie-clearing applications. Alas, I don't think anyone makes a 12 ga belt-fed. Oh, but it'd be so cool..... I saw a video of one once. I think it was hand cranked like a Gatling. Someone, maybe South Africa, had a 12-gauge minigun ...

Re: the Defensive Shotgun; How we make it work--MilCopp Blog

Anyway, a shotgun DOES allow you to arm yourself on the cheap in the short term . It's hard to get a more potent defensive arm for $260. Aaaaand that's exactly what I'm looking for. Don't get me wrong, I'll probably end up keeping it for a long while, but an AR or AK is definitely in my list, but t...

Re: the Defensive Shotgun; How we make it work--MilCopp Blog

I'm officially consulting the shotgun gurus here. I was on a big AR/AK kick for a little while, but after doing some thinking I've come to realize that I just don't have the money for it. But what I DO have the money for is a decent used shotgun. Like the 870 tactical on sale at our local shop for ...

Re: Ammunition stockpiling: questions re: quality and quant

Cheap ammo is okay, provided it consistently works for you in your weapons. Given that ammunition and feeding devices are the sources of most firearms malfunctions, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to skimp in these departments. But if it works for you, it works. I'm trying to stock up on cheap...

Ok, two new questions: 1. Is there somewhere a clear definition of what does or not constitute "suitable for sporting purposes" re: requiring 922R compliance? I know a folding stock (or cutting the weld on the VEPR) does, but what else? Specifically, if it takes detachable mags, is there a capacity ...
