Re: Zombie Squad signed on for the first Zombie Cruise

Shouldn't a zombie cruise involve an old Russian freighter, copious amounts of spam and vodka, and fending off pirate attacks?

Re: any info on this ammo brand?

Per Wikipedia the largest coyotes found have been 74.75lbs and 5.7 ft long, including tail. This is allot smaller than a 6" 200-300lbs person. I don't think comparing coyotes to people is a good comparison.

Woods I looked up Two Hawks and their hawks are in the 100+ range, at least from their web site. Are they really selling cast hawks for that much?

Re: BOB philosophy revisited

I know that some people pack their INCH for the car with the intention of dumping some stuff if they have to go on foot. I only have a bob but is rather heavy and I know what I would start dumping first if I had to.

Re: All purpose "Help me build my AR" thread.

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert here but while doing research for my own AR I discovered that even if a tube is mil-spec sized it may not be made out of the proper mil-spec aluminum. This could theoretically cause issues if you have to pogo stick the rile or otherwise put allot of force on ...

Re: Wearing MARPAT in public?

There is an Arcteryx LEAF version of the ILBE. There are actually 2 sizes, the ECHO and the TANGO which both come in plain colors. I've seen them listed on eBay in the "crocodile" color (which looks OD greenish) but they usually go for around $300 . The $300 price tag is why I opted for a $50ish do...

Re: Wearing MARPAT in public?

This is why I wish I had been able to get my ILBE in a regular color and not the marine MARPAT. What actually bugs me the most is the EGA on the proper label inside of it. Perhaps I should cut it out or go over it with a marker but that might just be worse. I dont know, I just wanted a reasonable pa...

H&B Forge.
Thanks Woods. I actually ended up with a Cold Steel that I am customizing but if I decide I want one I don't have to futz with again I'll consider them their price/quality ratio seems to be very high.

Re: Firearms Chat Part 2: Bullpups cause all the rage!

5. Institute a range rule/policy where once the brass hits the floor it becomes the range's property 6. Hoard up all the brass 7. Gunstore/indoor range sets up gunbroker account and sells once fired range brass via gunbroker 8. Profit again! I want to go back to the part I bolded here. How is this ...

Really? And they check all the headstamps? They must have either had a large issue with kabooms or really want to push their own ammo.

1. Buy some "factory" ammo and shoot it. Keep the boxes.

2. Put Freedom Munitions ammo into "factory" boxes.

3. Profit.

When I got my first enfield surplus was still available but now it's gone. .303 is now another round that one must reload to be worth having.

Re: Pistol and Shotgun; proper tools for Active Shooter?

From what jor-el has posted it looks like a Mumbi type situation is simply not on the NYPDs radar. Here we are 15 years out from Columbine and many departments still don't have their active shooter plans sorted out. Taking on multiple well armed and trained attackers is not something most department...

Jor-el while I am happy to discuss this with you I really don't think were the people you should be coming to about large changes to NYPD policy. I don't know what your rank is or how much influence you have with the brass there but if you really want to sell this I would get in contact with actual ...

Re: My Issues with Herters and Steel Case ammo

No one is saying that it didn't happen. What they are saying is that this is an isolated incident limited to a comparatively small number of rounds from a single manufacturer. I can't really blame you if this put you off of steel case, I know that I have had my share of issues with it. Also good on ...

Re: Pistol and Shotgun; proper tools for Active Shooter?

I think that the best the PD could do in this situation is containment. If you can trap the terrorist teams or at least limit their movement that will make it easier for SWAT etc. to fix them in position and destroy them. What would be really scary is if the terrorist team did a fast attack creating...

Re: My Issues with Herters and Steel Case ammo

I have put thousands of steel case 7.62x39 and 5.56 through a number of different guns and never had a problem like this. You need to contact the manufacturer and/or distributor immediately and tell them what happened.

Re: Pistol and Shotgun; proper tools for Active Shooter?

As someone mentioned there are really two different situations we are talking about here. The first is the standard "active shooter". We know how to deal with something like this, it's simply a matter of getting departments to properly train and equip their officers. The second situation is one that...

As I understand it "shoot to ground" means shoot until the threat is no longer a threat but is not necessarily dead.
