Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

What needs to happen before we can even begin to fix this mess we are in is that the money needs to start flowing in large sums again. Like the kind of large sums passed around in the Real Estate market. The current DJIA really doesn't mean much in the large picture. As long as large sums of money ...

Re: London Riots 08/07/2011

Nothing wrong with investing in people to prevent this from happening again, but it works two ways; if you don't severely punish crime then it's going to be an attractive escape. If you severely punish crime but leave them with the feeling they've got nothing to lose, then it's going to repeat, they...

Re: London Riots 08/07/2011

I wondered how the kids doing all the rioting were out without their parents knowledge, and read David Cameron talking about bad parenting. Then at work today I realised it's probably a generational transference thing i.e. mum and dad, and the grannies and grandads probably were the same bad role m...

Re: London Riots 08/07/2011

It looks like three people defending their neighbourhood have been killed in Birmingham by some scum driving into them with his car. At what point are we just going to call these fuckers terrorists, or something? They could do with being locked up for the rest of their lives: England riots: Clean-up...

Re: London Riots 08/07/2011

So this is more of a LA Riot style event. Hhhmmmm. Disconcerting. Sorry, I do not watch the news and just read about things on the net. I really haven't been following this or the other riot. So how/why is there so much anger about this one death of one guy. Seems odd. Is there a component similar ...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

A good Reuters article updating activity thus far. Israeli markets were down 7% on Sunday but there was little international trading on that market for obvious reasons. The other market that is open right now is the gold market. and gold is basically flat down about $.40/oz. http://www.reuters.com/...

Re: What are you playing?

I bought Bioshock (1) for €2,50 at the bargain bin at the local department store. That's a real bargain, seeing as it's still for sale on Steam for about €20. (Amazon.co.uk started around £5 if I recall correctly.) I was looking for this game after playing the demo, so it was some real luck that I f...

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/it-just-went-bad-far-far-worse-germany-says-italy-too-big-efsf-save-refuses-carry-euro-bailout- I would normally say this is typical fluff, but the timing is just terrible. Any confirmation of this? Googling just turns up links that all point back to that single "Zeroh...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Indeed you are correct about the i7, and would love to have installed it in the rig, but i figured save the cash to upgrade several other parts would be the wiser choice since im going to end up overclocking the cpu to just under 4GHz anyway. Dont worry my brother. This set up is well worth the cas...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Heh, I'm not one for the enchanting skill (too foggy for me, I prefer something like marksman ;)) but it would be very annoying to have items that can only hold one attribute. That would just make the RPG-player inside of me weep. I just hope that enchanting is a bit more like Morrowind than Oblivio...

Re: Food Storage Porn: Hot or Not. Show us pics!

This seems more like a BOB food item, to me. That's an AWFUL lot of calories for an adult, let alone for a kid under 12, even an active one, and if you're just hunkering down, laying low while you're eating these, well- you might not have a wide enough door to leave when it's time. Works like...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Only one suggestion. Extend the water cooling to the video cards also. The two places where dust will collect and kill hardware by choking airflow is the CPU and the video cards. One of the most overlooked benefits of watercooling is the fact that you are not sucking dust and cat hair and whatever ...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I wanted the I7 but I am not on an unlimited budget. So the I5 was a trade off. I gave the Builder 1000 dollars and told him to make the best machine he could while staying within that amount, and this is what he came up with. I really am lost in the woods with a lot of this compute stuff. I can di...

Re: Global Debt Time Bomb explodes soon

Question: I've been told that the payments the .gov makes against our debts is just enough to cover the interest on the loans it has out now. How accurate is that statement? Pretty accurate for pretty much all Western economies. The Dutch spend just under 10% of our budget paying interest only. Pay...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

A simple tip for getting cheaper computer stuff: keep an eye out for new developments. Whenever big new technologies are introduced, the older, still very capable ones tend to be downgraded in price. That way, back in 2006 when dual core processors became the norm, I got myself a single-core AMD 400...

As long as Archery =/= turning the enemy into pincusions I imagine I'll go sneaky archer for first play through, maybe with a bit of magic. I really hope the Dark Brotherhood has a quest line, it was such a blast in Oblivion. Though, even if Archery sucks...again, won't be long until it's modded ri...

Look around Ebay or a used game shop in your area, bro. Did you get the expansions with your original game? What? Go to a physical shop? In the digital age? Re: What are you playing?

Oh, and Morrowind (not Oblivion). I love that game. Too bad it doesn't support widescreen resolutions, otherwise I'd be replaying that. Well, it does if you download the Morrowind Graphics Extender, but that requires the Game of the Year edition that I don't have. :S (It's not expensive to buy that...

Re: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Ok here is a question what race, sex, and character type is going to be your first run through... Im thinking Male Dark elf Assassin. The dark elves have a high fire resistance as a racial ability which will be handy in those fire breathing dragon encounters. They also have a pretty good starting a...
