Because the slow-discharge batteries are super expensive, and are still made with the same chemistry that causes ni-MH self-discharge. Have you actually let some sit and then done a capacity test on them after a year, or are you just taking their marketing materials at face value? I've seen the tec...

I am going that route now for my bib bob, but several power pole connectors and some wire already. I'm using a MAHA c401FS which has a 12v automotive plug. Same with my other gear, everything can run automotive style so its a simple matter to replace those old cig adapters with smaller more robust p...

I had also given up on re-chargeable batteries for the same self discharge reasons and switched back to alkaline and lithium for a few years. Then I heard about ones such as Eneloop and tried them and they do actually work. Using those and a decent MAHA charger I charge only after use or every seaso...

When I moved out from my parents house years ago dad bought me one of those toolboxes that sits behind the seat of a truck and some tools for it, that box was stolen but ever since then I've carried tools just in case. I've went from a hard box to a wrench roll and tool roll. They are nice canvas wi...

Even without power they are a gimmick. Most are cheap chinese junk, most have some sort of internal battery that can go bad from sitting too long. there are a few decent ones but nothing special. I am standardizing on AA batteries. Sanyo Eneloop low self discharge are my standard now with some of my...

I am one who thinks you should be able to do everything, IMHO when TSHTF you are not going to be able to call AAA to change your tire or a plumber to fix your leak. So I learn to do everything. 1. Computers, build them, fix them, Windows Linux, etc 2. Cars, always do my own maintenance so I know its...

I put down some armstrong flooring in my kitchen a few years ago. Its made like the wood floors above but in large planks measuring 15" x 14" that look like three tiles each. No glue is required but you can glue it to make it more water proof. It took nine rows and two evenings for me to lay it, ver...

It all depends on how you define BOB. I have a GHB in my truck so if something happens at work then I get home. Next I have your typical 3 day bob at home and that goes with us on overnight trips with gear that we might need to get home from wherever we are staying as well. If I have to bug out then...

Thought I'd post as I'm in central Ohio as well. First question is why are you bugging out? Without a planned place to go then things would have to get pretty bad to make bugging out an option. I have family and land in another state and am within Columbus city limits and have gov supported neighbor...
