Re: things that go bump in the night

I live essentially on the land of a very large cemetery. That being said, not much spooks me about graveyards, especially mine. Sure, the old as hell ones, out in the middle of the woods, with tombstones so old you cant read them, at night will give me the willies. But that has more to do with zombi...

Re: Awkard moments or negative responses while using your EDC!

Yeah, the whole "Oh god, why do you carry a knife?!" question gets my blood pressure up a little. Sure, my MaxPed manbag loaded up with everything from zip ties to nitrile gloves might be a little unconventional, but a knife? What has happened to society when a pocketknife is considered scary and da...

Re: New Snare Material...Kevlar Thread?

Got some 2mm Kevlar thread in tan that would work great as a snare material if need be. It can be had in hobby shops, often sold as model rocket parachute line, or on fleabay.

Re: Weapon options for under-16s

Wasnt born with a 'gun in hand', but definatley a knife. Was 6 or so when I got my Cub Scouts non-lock folder, which was promptly tossed out by my grandfather and replaced with a small lockback Buck. http://www.dnrsports.com/acatalog/BUK9210.jpg We all know this knife very well, as Im sure more than...

80# at 50% on my compound is all the heft I desire. I'd love to take a swing on one of those 90# warbows sometime though, gotta be fun.

Re: Gerber Omnivore

I wouldn't want to merely upgrade a minimag which is too long for my tastes and still only uses one type of battery. It was the multiple battery thing that sold me on it. If there's another light that does that, I'll look at them too. Point conceided. Everyone has their tastes, and the multifuel is...

Re: favorite maglite size

All of the above, and then some. Have a Minimag with Niteize single function tailcap, Luxeon Starfire III LED, polished lip, double thick lens, and rubber lens holder for red filters. It rides in a Niteize nylon swivel holster as my on-person EDC. Another Minimag lives in my manbag, only upgrade is ...

Lets just say, when walking on the street in Chinatown, if someone asks you if youve danced the dance of the seven lotus dragons, do not respond with the English Channel is chilly in February.

Trying to determine the felt recoil/shooting comfort of a round based on kinetic energy of the projectile itself is kinda like determining the performance of two cars based on the compression ratios of their engines. .45 is for traditionalists, 9mm is for economy, .40 is for tech geeks, and .357sig ...

Had a lovely OC treat this weekend, courtesy of the fine folks at Pennsylvania Firearms Owners Assoc. during their Open Carry Luncheon, as a guest of our own MrUgly and Lizbet. Ive been muzzle flashed a few times, but nothing more serious than that with firearms. Now paintballs guns are a different story. People seem to think they are absolutley harmless. That may be a fact, when youre shooting at me on the playing feild from 30ft, and I have a protective mask on. But when...

Lock and/or barricade the doors? Cause from your post, it sounded like they just walked into the place. At least if they break down the door, youll have something 'interesting' for the local PD to get off their butts and investigate. Also, you can lay some booby traps out. Nothing Rambo-violent, jus...

+1 again on the Manlaw. You evaluated your situation as non-critical, and took the proper measures to keep the party operations a go. Well done.

On surviving nights on bathroom floors, towels and the shower curtain work nicely.

Wow. Glad to hear youre ok, but you did make a few wrong moves. First off, you stopped when they made an obvious, planned move to block the road and stop your progress. This is the point you put it into R and bug back out of that street. At that point, a cop catching you would be a very nice thing, ...

But yes, all the essentials, two sets of ears, extra pair of eyes, cleaning sprays, wipes, small tool kit, ammo and targets.

Got mine in the other day. Look damn spiffy. One is absolutely going directly to the EDC manbag, and I dont even have a ZS badge on that yet.

Im assuming all got paid for and moved out, with the exception of the ones in the PayItForward thread? Just as long as you came out still in the black.
