Re: Gear that made you stop looking

I got a Fenix E01 flashlight over a year and a half ago and never looked back. Not only is it lightweight and compact, it's fairly bright for its size and very, very reliable. I put a battery in when I first got it and have yet to replace it, which I still think is pretty amazing considering how oft...

Re: Experience with Bee , Enlan , Navy brand knives

I got my brother one for Christmas, and he LOVES it. He's called me twice to tell me how easily it slices through stuff (the first time it was plastic jugs, the second time it was cardboard ). If you decide to buy one, however, DO NOT BUY FROM GADGETSDEALER.COM! I ordered a knife from them, and just...

This is our new water storage. Theoretically, it will last three days, assuming we only use so much per day.

It was set up in our basement on wood pallets that were themselves put on top of cinder blocks.

I've got another one for the list. Back when I worked in a movie theater I had the distinct pleasure of picking up and throwing away a small, empty bottle of whiskey when cleaning up a theater. Oh, and the theater had been showing a kids' movie. (Well, I remember that being the case. Let's assume I'm correct; it's more interesting th...

I asked for a Fenix E01 and a renewed subscription to Backwoodsman Magazine, and a few non-prep items. I got the non-prep items and a printed receipt for a $50 flashlight that was purchased online. I don't know what brand, but apparently it has three different modes including strobe and takes a sing...

Note: the bag I talk about is just an EDC bag, so it won't have a lot in it, relatively speaking. It's mostly so I have some basic stuff to take with me when I leave the house. That doesn't seem like a whole lot of food (in terms of size or calories), considering how far you have to walk. Could be I missed something, though. A military can opener or three might be a good addition. (I keep one in my wallet, just in case.) Personally, I think they're a lot easier to use than...

Not a zombie film, but the '09 big bug film Infestation had some things I feel like complaining about: 1. Not letting people know that the anchorwoman was clearly unhinged. This gets established fairly early on, but for some reason the person who notices doesn't say anything to anyone. This wasn't a...

The stock scream effect used about 30 seconds in is the same one they use in the Jerry Springer show. It also seemed like they re-used the same scream effect five or six times throughout. Looks like it might be worth checking out anyway, though, except I don't have Chiller. Hopefully they'll put it ...

I can think of a couple of times, both of them a year or two ago. The first one was when a price gun got jammed (happens on a somewhat regular basis) at my summer job. Then this happened: Cousin: Hey MSH, do you have a pair of tweezers on you? [beat] Me: Yes. Cousin (speaking to someone else): See, ...

Will the price increase for peanuts be comparable, or will plain peanuts not go up as much? Because I've made my own peanut butter before, and if it ends up being cheaper than the store bought stuff it'll probably be all I eat if at all possible. Re: Food Storage Porn: Hot or Not. Show us pics!

There's a lot of threads on food storage, but the simple version is to store what you eat, and then eat it. Use the FIFO system--First In, First Out. Start out slow, buying a few extra cans of staple foods when you go shopping. Don't store things you don't eat or haven't tried because you might be a...

Simple boredom can drive people to try or do things that better sense would dictate against I live in a small city/large town kind of area, and I can attest to this.
